On Monday, 3-9-2015 I got 10 coils placed in my left lung. It didn't go as well as I had hoped. The procedure usually takes 45 minutes, Mine took almost 2 hours. The Dr. said it was due to the narrow airways in my lung and they also had an equipment malfunction. Anyway, woke up in recovery & had a breathing attack. They were able to control it fairly quickly with neb treatments. It has been a week & I still haven't recovered from the attack/exacerbation so I don't know if I got any improvement from the coils. Today is the first day I have been able to walk without stats going way down. I will post again in near future with hopfully better news. Thanks to all for positive thoughts.

Hi Mel - so sorry to hear the second procedure was more difficult. Are you still in the hospital? I hope they are taking really good care of you!!! Did the same Dr. do this placement as the first? From other reporters, there have been some exacerbations post-op and like many 'routine' exacerbations, some just take longer to resolve. Also, some have not seen improvement for months after the second lung versus the first lung. No one has reported the reason. Time and difficulty would cause a lot of irritation to your lung and could be the trigger. I know you are feeling punky but want you to know how much we all appreciate your posting your experience along the way. Give yourself some time to recoup before you make any judgment about the success of this recent coiling. I'm sending you warm hugs for a better day

Well I'm back and wish I had better news. I had my second lung (right) done on July 7, 2014. I didn't have an asthma attack like I did with the 1st procedure, but the outcome was the same. I greatly declined & still have not recovered. I now need more O2 than before. When I went for my followup visit last month, I wasn't even able to do the 6 min walk. I only could go 4 min. I am starting Pulm. Rehab again next week & hope that I can come back. Due to being on high level of prendisone, I have gained a lot of weight. I have to loose some before I can start the transplant testing again. I don't want to discourage anyone from getting the coils, as I think I am the exception. I have not heard of anyone else having problems like I have. My Dr. doesn't know why I have not seen the same improvement as others or he just isn't telling me why. They don't think the coils are causeing the problem, but that my lungs couldn't handle the bronscopy procedure. Anyway, I wish to best for everyone and hope you have a breath easy day/night.
