I was doing something that got me very short of SOB. It was so bad I could not inhale enough to make my rescue inhaler do it's job. Geez, I felt like I was going to die.
Next time I will use it beforehand (if I remember).
Does anyone have any tips about what to do in a situation like this ?

I take in deep breaths and let out as much as possible. I have to lean on something. Setting down makes it worse for me. I just stand and put my weight on my arms. Basically I let my body breath the way it wants to. If I force it my way it makes it worse. I have to be very quite and still. I feel like I am out in space and there is no oxygen. It generally goes away in a minute.
This happens to me about 5 or 6 times a day. I try and not push myself to that point but it will come out of the blue. Especially if it is getting close to the time I need to use the Nebulizer which is every 3 or 4 hours.
Doctor says I have lost the ability to do anything. It's very scary and I panic. One day I will see about taking Ativan. I have experimented with Ativan and it work great. The only reason I don't take it now is because I know what a Benzo attack is. I change Doctors a lot, not my choice, and I am afraid I will become dependant on Benzodiazepines and then get a Doctor that won't prescribe them to me. They call that up a creek without a paddle.
I know the day is coming that I will have to take Ativan. Right now I am using Tramadol. It works like morphine but is not classified as a narcotic, yet. I am changing Pulmonary Doctors so I should see the knew one in a week or two.

Try not to take in too much air. You say you're deep breathing. That's making it worse. Try just to SLOW down the breathing and then when you're able, do some PLB. I find it hard to PLB when I'm in panic mode. Calming down is most important, but also the hardest. Take smaller breaths when you PLB..less to get out.
Time for oxygen David?

Yes, I am working on oxygen. I am border lining the 88% oxygen level. Most of the time I can stop the Dyspnea by stopping what I am doing. Sometimes I go a little to far. I hate the panic attacks so I do everything I can to avoid bringing one on. I have been like this for a year and a half now so I have had plenty of practice. When I go to the new Pulmonary Doctor I will take the extra few steps to bring on the breathlessness. I dread it though. The Tramadol helps me a lot. The best I can tell it seems to work like Morphine by suppressing my breathing. It doesn't do anything for a panic attack.
I have to take deep breaths at first. I tried things that I read and it didn't work for me then I let my body take over and do what it needs to do to get back to normal. I don't know why but it works for me. May not work for others.

Thank you very much for the replies, all helpful advice!
I have 3 1mg ativan a day to use but I'm still not sure when would be the best time to use them.

I would use them when anticipating a stressful time. Ativan takes a few hours to start working for me. Is that normal? Anyway....I take one .5 in the morning so I can get stuff done then .5 at night so I can calm down and sleep. If I know I'm going out I'll take another a few hours before. I think Ativan is something that works differently for people.

The Doctor gave me Lorazepam (Ativan) 1 MG and it worked pretty fast. Less than an hour. I mentioned to him when he wrote the script that I heard they take a while to work. He said these don't.

When I need Ativan to work quickly I just put it under my tongue just like the sublingual kind. Works much faster that way. Normally takes about an hour, under the tongue 10 minutes or so.

I put them under my tongue but it doesn't seem to make it happen any faster.
