flooding rivers in new book... I just started reading Louise Penny's newest book "A Better Man" A Chief Inspector Gamache Novel (mystery.) The first part is describing the coming of a massive freezing storm, melting of huge ice in all the rivers surrounding Montreal that merge. Her description of the weather, land, clothing, sandbagging, fears, as the main characters of Three Pines fictional village fear for the rising Bella Bella River and how to save land, people, bridges, etc. It was quit riveting. She has described winter in Quebec, Montreal, and surrounding northern land in some of her other books in this series but this time I felt like I was there but grateful not to be How sturdy all Canadians must be to adapt to your cold weather. I truly admire you all Another part I enjoyed was her description of the ever changing weather - rain, sleet, snow, crashing ice like you hear about the north pole.......boots, clothes, hats, gloves, mud everywhere on every surface including clothes and how it is just a part of life - definitely no one cares about 'looking upscale' I am only one third through this book. Her previous book was a real thriller - glad to have her back on track as several books back, was a very poor book probably as a result of her husband's rapid descent with Alzheimers. So if you are looking for a good read, I highly recommend this book. There is also a mystery within as well. Just wanted to share

I really enjoy books done in series but many lose their ouch over the years. Mystery and historical mysteries (any century) are my favorites and intersperse them with cozy mysteries..... glad to know there are some readers here

I'm a reader!! I love curling up with a good book. Right now I'm reading Saint Fustina. I read her book, almost all of it, now I'm reading her diary and it is wonderful so far. But I like biographies, and Mysteries I love reading Little Women even later on in my age. I have read many books of every type. Enjoy your books girls not many people read anymore.
