ZIPLOC OMELETS
This works great !!! Good for when all your family is together. The best part is that no one has to wait for their special omelet !!!
Have guests write their name on a quart-size Ziploc freezer bag with permanent marker. Crack 2 eggs (large or extra-large) into the bag (not more than 2) shake to combine them. Put out a variety of ingredients such as: cheeses, ham, onion, green pepper, tomato, mushrooms, hash browns, salsa, etc. Each guest adds prepared ingredients of choice to their bag and shake. Make sure to get the air out of the bag and zip it up. Place the bags into rolling, boiling water for exactly 13 minutes. You can usually cook 6-8 omelets in a large pot. For more, make another pot of boiling water.
Open the bags and the omelet will roll out easily. Be prepared for everyone to be amazed.
Nice to serve with fresh fruit, bacon or sausage; everyone gets involved in the process and a great conversation piece.

I've tried this and it does work....if you just use eggs, nothing added to them, cook less than the 13 minutes or they come out tough......and be careful if the top of the bags hang over the edge of the pot or they can melt. Also, since it is in a rolled shape when finished, that makes it ideal for a breakfast burrito too.

I bet this would work using just egg whites, grated cheese, etc. I'm trying to be a bit more health concious, so am trying the egg whites. They taste alright as long as I add a little of this and a little of that...Thanks.

There is nothing wrong with eating natural proteins, including fats. It's White processed flour products ( breads, pasta, cakes and cookies) and sugar that are so very unhealthy. FYI My husband and I have been following the Atkins plan for about 11 years on the advice of my Cleveland Clinic Cardiologist. Since then the Stanford Study came out saying Atkins was best at controlling weight, blood cholesterol, blood pressure and diabetes.

Meant to tell you about this.....when the kids were up in August, I made these (originally tried it on hubby and he thought they were great.) Only I did the breakfast wrap (warmed tortillas in some foil in the toaster oven) The kids put their own stuff in the bags etc....they thought it was GREAT. Ben even made them when he got back to Georgia though he tried 3 eggs (rather than 2) and discovered it was too many.
It's amazing how something good can travel so far....

I saw this on t.v. yesterday. The eggs were put into pitcher already scrambled and everyone made their own. It is funny you posted this as i was going to look it up for this weekend.
I also like the wrap idea for my grandson. He loves that kinda stuff.
Thanks
