I have been on it a few times and it has worked well. If she doesn't notice an improvement with in a few days , I would call back and see about something else. Try to stay on top of it and hopefully she will avoid the hospital. Hope she feels better real soon.
PS.....I am not a caregiver, hope its OK to answer here
I am not a caregiver or ever been on avelox. Just wanted to say I am sorry to hear about your mom. I agree with Colleen-Pa, if you can get ahead of it or on top of it, she may be able to avoid a hospital stay. Good luck.

I'm sorry, I just saw this message. Avelox is an exceptionally good (also expensive) antibiotic. Colleen's right; if she doesn't start to feeling better in a few days, call back and get something else.I've had VG success in the past with Z packs. Even if it is working but the infection doesn't totally clear up you might have to have it extended a bit.
As for the Pred; she may not like it because it "wires for sound" some people. I'm one of them. I find it exceptionally hard to sleep when I'm on it. BUT; it does do what it's suppose to do and it will help her.
