Many of you here are members of this forum's parent organization "COPD Canada Patient Network." Some of you aren't. Others are members of this message board but not members of the Network., Others simply pop in to read and haven't joined the Network or the Message Board. That's O.K. However; almost all of us have COPD, or live with someone who has COPD. November 19th is World COPD Day. The Network's Board of Directors has been scratching their heads to come up with something we could ALL do for that day. The answer came a few months ago..... A "Lungevity WALK" tm I truly, truly hope that you will participate in some fashion; whether it's walking yourself or sponsoring someone who is. We are after all, COPDer's helping COPDer's and there's so much to be done; and so much that CAN be done. Good Lord willing I'll be walking that day as well and yes I'm still shooting for my goal though I've still a ways to go. Please take a moment and read about what we have planned. EVERY penny that's raised goes into COPD Education of the general public, newly diagnosed COPDer's and their support people , Support, Advocacy, Networking. We are particularly working at reaching people in the smaller, outer lying communities, quite often elderly and may not have the better meds, Dr's or even understand there's ways of "coping" and "learning" to live better with this disease. For many, computer access is out of the question. COPD Canada Patient Network is a not for profit, federally registered charitable organization; "disease specific" and because it's made up of and run by members living with COPD, we, you, me; all of us, are able to "empathize"....not just "sympathize" There IS a difference. Please take a moment to read up on it and maybe print off a pledge form. You can help yourslef that day and in doing so you'll be helping some one else. www.copdcanada.ca/Lungevity_%20Walk_Info.htmIf you have any questions whatsoever, or a suggestion, please do not hesitate to ask either in a PM (private message) or through an e mail to myself or one of the Board Members. Thank You, Jackie Whitaker
