There are new scavengers trying to attack us on the Internet. These are called Rogue security Software. They are actually a type of Scareware which cause a window to pop up on you screen telling you that you are infected with a virus or a trojan. They are actually malware. Before you allow any program to check your system for viruses or errors, make sure it is not malware by checking its name on the site below. -- Vic _____________________________ The Rogue GalleryThe Rogue Gallery, powered by the Malware Labs at Lavasoft, is a resource dedicated to keeping computer users safe from rogue security software. By providing a comprehensive database of current rogue security applications, you have the ability to clearly see what programs are considered rogue – and avoid them. Navigate the Rogue Gallery by displaying the latest threats or by searching for specific programs, listed in alphabetical order. Use the "Submit a Rogue" link to quickly and easily send any suspicious programs directly to Malware Labs to be analyzed www.lavasoft.com/mylavasoft/rogues/latest

I've seen those "pop ups" Vic! Good point to bring up for folks!!!
I've not encountered them since I went to Norton 360 (though it slows my computer down) BUT.... Dave uses another program.... I'll have to ask him about it......
Good one.

.
I agree Vic. Definately gotta keep an eye on those "got ya!" traps...
A few years back, I was surfing and got a new screen message stating "virus detected - click here to elimiante it". Thinking this msg was real, I "clicked on it". Skip a head in time.... After 8 hours of complete system restore, I learned my lesson. re: Never do that again.
Today, I'm often saying.. "if it smells like a duck, sounds like a duck and even walks like a duck.... Then DUCK". Actually, duck and run away from it....
Good share...
