I got an e from Wendy last night with a copy of what she posted on her Care Pages. As follows.... 17 days in hospital I haven’t followed through here like I should have and apologize for that….too much resting going on I think I was released from the hospital on Friday, Oct 30th just in time for Halloween with the grands….came home with a bit of bronchitis’s and laryngitis but it was viral so all was well….. Had a heck of a time sleeping for the first week cause I have my bed on head risers and I kept slipping down and then had trouble moving back up……one night I was without 02 cause it had become unplugged downstairs somehow but I did okay with all of this…. It was great being here while all the grands got ready for the big trick or treating (it’s tradition that they meet here and have something to eat and get ready together). I was so happy I could be home for this…. The first week I did 3 minutes at a time on my Treadmill, although it did it often throughout the day….I am now up to 5 minutes so this is good….my 02 levels are remaining higher with less oxygen, this is exciting…… Have had a few problem areas……on of my incision sites was getting icky and the stitches came out on the gauze which wasn’t supposed to happen, that was yesterday and saw the doc today and they removed the rest also, hip hip hurray!!!!! Now maybe the area can heal, still fairly tender…… I also have had a very sore area when I breathed deeply, well apparently I have an air space and that is the trouble. I will go back in a week and have more x-rays done and see how it is doing….I’m praying it heals itself, otherwise, I will have to have a tube inserted and don’t want to do that again…..Doc said for me to walk and rest and nothing more so I will try hard to do nothing more…. It was another extra beautiful drive down this morning, the snowcapped mountains was all along the front range and the sun was gorgeous on them…..Char was right with me again and spoke up to the doc cause she thinks I understate things who me? Heheheheehehehehe " I love the sound of things Zoom! Now we just goota get over the other little humps! You're doing great!

I'm so glad things are going good for you, Wendy. Great, actually, minus the air pocket. How fun it must have been with the grand kids on Halloween. You're going to have many more good years to watch this tradition, til they don't want to do it anymore.
Good going on the TM. I'm like Sandy, feeling guilty for not getting on it while you're pushing yourself. Ah, motivation... The mountains sounds so beautiful.

I am so glad things are going well. And, you got to go home and celebrate with family on Halloween. I hope all the little obstacles...not even obstacles but as Blossom put it, humps, are eliminated soon.
WTG with TM.

thank you again everyone! it's so great to be here, home.....
I just want to say this about Treadmill's and exercise.....it's not easy and does take some motivation....if I can get anyone to realize you don't have to begin with a marathon than I will be happy.....so often we hear about what folks are doing and think we can't ever do that so why bother. Or that a little bit won't help so why bother.....this is so UNTRUE! even little, tiny baby steps each and every day will help you!!!!!! if you just walk further in your own home than usual, do it.....please everyone just try........the payoff is a better life, honestly......

Wendy...great to be home isn't it? You've done so well, even with the little blips along the way. I heartily agree about the babysteps...you have to start small and work your way up...every little bit helps! Way to go!

You go Wendy, you are on the right track. The healing takes time, especially when we have a problem or 2 but you will prevail, I know it. The benefits so out weigh the work you have to do. Just do what dock says and you will be doing the marathon on WORLD COPD day next year. I am happy for you just keep lookin' up!!

it's so awesome all the supoort I have gotten....thank you all again so much.......and it will get better all the time, I have to be patient and look at the improvements weekly not daily this is my latest update yesterday Char and I ventured back down to the Doc in Denver....had a snowstorm the day before but the roads were clear so no trouble just beautiful views....we got there early again so had time to waste.....on the main floor in a lobby area they have a Grand piano and this morning a woman was playing it....we sat there for a while and listened, nice way to spend some time....... Had my xray first and then we went up to the doc's office. It was a great visit, my pneumothorax (air space) had decreased some so no need to tube me again.....it will resolve itself.....I did lots and lots of whewhooo's.........we talked about my 02 levels and he had me sit there during the visit with my 02 turned off.....I never dropped below 90! this is amazing!!!!!!! he had the nurse take me into the hallway and walk without oxygen also....my levels did drop on the second run in the hall, got down to 81.....but that nurse sure did walk fast! there is hope that I could get completely off 02 in a few months. this is more than I ever hoped for...... I can also start to exercise more, just if it hurts, don't do it! heheehehehehe go back and see him in a month! life is good!!!!!!

Oh Wendy, I am so pleased for you. It must be so exciting to see what's already improved and to have so much more to look forward to. Thanks for keeping us updated.
How beautiful it must have been in the mountains with all the snow. My nephew lives in the Denver area, Lakewood last I knew. He says he'll never move back here (western NY).

I think of you often Wendy. What an inspiration you are to me and to others. I'm so happy you are doing so well and the thought of you perhaps not needing oxygen is so exciting! Take care and continue to get well. Toni

Your name just flashed into my mind. How are you doing? I know you've been out walking. Have you had any dr.s appt. since you've been home? Are you still in any bit of pain anywhere? Hope you had a nice Thanksgiving. Your family must have been thrilled to have you safely, and more healthy, this year. So much to be grateful for.
