I had a scary moment (05/12/2017). It just turned out to be gastritis. The reason I say it was a scary moment today. It was almost the exact same symptoms my when my mom heath started get worse. She actually got sick on Saturday. She didn't go to the emergency room till Tuesday, that when she was having breathing trouble. As you know, she died the next morning.
The symptoms
severe Chills that lasted about an hour Diarrhea
Cramping & Nausea Fever but not all the time. (I didn't have any)
My appetite is returning but I can't eat for 24 hours or have milk. Milk is my favorite, I am a heavy milk drinker. I guess milk doesn't always do a body good.
Not the time to get sick. We got a get together to visit the grave (No service) on mothers day. I just hope I am not puking.

Please take care of yourself and watch your health.
You have been under a great deal of stress dealing with your mother's illness. That will have affected your immune system (as stress does). It always seems that after the stress starts to ease up is when you can become vulnerable.
Add to that the life changing effect of your mothers passing and you will need to take extra care of yourself for a while.

Sounds like the "stomach flu" that is going around down here in the states - zipping through fast.
[Actually that term is now obsolete. It is a "stomach virus infection" (viral gastroenteritis) which I'm sure many pundits will enjoy reminding people. But Toe-may-toe, toe-mah-toe, it is nasty.]
Grandkids, their mother all got it, but were up and running the next day. The mother still a bit weaker.
I am posting because I got it Thursday and with my COPD it hit me like a ton of bricks. I kept holding out assuming it would pass, but finally when I found myself puffing (pursed) like a steam engine, too dehydrated to lick a stamp let alone cough, with a pulse rate of 124. I gave in to my wardens and went to the ER.
Turned out I was suffering from Atrial Fibrillation (irregular heartbeat), acute dehydration, and acute kidney failure. I was literally on my way to a stroke. Every joint in my body hurt, and I was too weak to raise my head up to adjust a pillow, let alone stand. I was zipped to the hospital. Got out yesterday afternoon.
Anyway a basic warning and another reminder for myself. If you have advanced COPD DO NOT takes these things lightly. We have diminished lung function, impaired immune systems (due to the type of drugs we are taking), and don't respond well to dehydration (which vomiting and diarrhea can cause in a matter of hours), therefore if you suspect this crud is lasting too long, you get too dried-out, light-headed, ... GO. Don't sit an wait thinking like a kid it will only be a 24-hour annoyance. I thought we only needed to fear lung problems - flu, pneumonia, bad colds. Such is not the case no longer can any BUG be considered safe.

Gnott mate...seems there are a few going down with similar issues..much like a chesty cough where your chest feels heavy and you may cough up mucus or phlegm and involve a sore throat and mornings seem worse..This bug may follow a sore throat or a cold and can be worse in the morning.
As they are usually caused by a viral infection, antibiotics are useless and probably something like Benadryl or other expectorants may help...
The worse case scenario it can sometimes be a sign of another problem, such as asthma, heart failure or chronic bronchitis. The longer a cough lasts, the more likely it is that there may be an underlying, more serious cause.
Well might not be your case but hope all of you there get over whatever type of ''flu'' that is making the rounds....
