My Mom had this recipe when we were little and they used to call it New York Special..To this day it is still my favorite. You can buy some pretty good pre-made ones but never as good as this
1/2 - cup butter 3 - tablespoons cocoa 1/4 - cup white sugar
Melt in saucepan add 1 - teaspoon vanilla 1 - beaten egg 2 - cups Graham Wafer Crumbs 1 - cup dessicated coconut 1 - cup finely chopped walnuts
Press down firmly in 9 x 13 inch pan and chill
Filling
1/4 - cup butter 2 - cups icing sugar 2 - tablespoons of custard powder 1/4 - can sweetened condensed milk ( sometimes a little more depending on texture )
Beat until fluffy ( may need to add a little bit of regular milk ) spread on top of first layer
Icing Melt - 3 squares semi - sweet chocolate and add 1 1/2 - tablespoons of butter Pour on top of second layer and spread evenly.
Refrigerate until cooled and then store at room temperature.
Enjoy
