Just for you Joyce; well anyone for that matter...
Seems like when you grow tomatoes you can end up with a "bumper" crop to the point friends, neighbours, family start running when they see you.
To help with the "overflow" I've found that (other than the salsa you make Joyce) then there's also picante and stuff like Chow Chow from green ones that I just finsihed making today)....you can freeze them whole. No cooking.
Rinse them off, dry them, pop them into a freezer bag.
I take a couple few out when I'm making beef stew or anything while tomatoes i.e. swiss steak or whatever. No need to thaw, just run them under hot water and remove the skin then half or quarter them (still frozen they cut easy)
Works like a charm.

Jackie I guess never thought of doing green tomatoes that way. I have sliced and frozen for fried green tomatoes in winter though. Will have to try that...

No no....I'm talking about "Ripe" tomatoes. Freezing whole, no prep.
I use "green tomatoes" for chow chow

Wow, I never thought of freezing them like that. What a wonderful way to have fresh tomatoes in the winter. I know about canning, but never heard of freezing. This is a great tip for all tomato lovers. Thanks so much....Joyce
