Its been a little while since I have posted. All is well here, both of us had a little stomach bug, it only lasted a day or so, thankfully its gone! We are of course back to rehab three days a week, things in the exercise room haven't been going quite as well since we got back from break. Hubby is a little more SOB and tired and has lost about 5lbs since we came here. Back to the Ensure with meals and hoping for some gain there! We have been to see the doctor and there is no infection so hopefully things will pick up. The physiotherapists here are really great, they keep their eyes open for any issues and are always trying to help you meet your goals. Another caregiver and myself decided we would get a tattoo of the organ and tissue donation ribbon last week....what got into us!! We went down to a reputable shop after checking out health board certification etc....he got his on his bicep and I got mine on the inside of my left arm just below the elbow. I ended up in a walk in clinic a few days later, I thought I had an infection but it turns out the Dr thinks its an allergy to the ink. Just my luck! Not much i can do at this point. I think its getting better... There have been 4 lung transplants done this month and 66 people waiting to date. I have started a photo album for myself and 5 other couples waiting here, we had our first big outing on Jan 9th at the Red Lobster. We are hoping that once a month we can all get out and enjoy a meal together at a nice restaurant. We are the only couple in the group with COPD, another has CF (here fr 2nd transplant) 2 have pulmonary fibrosis and another host vs graft rejection affecting her lungs from a bone marrow transplant. I am the only woman support person in this group, but let me tell you the men are all great and take such good care of their partners and we often get together for coffee and talk about the challenges and the joys. Next week we are attending an mandatory meeting for all lung transplant patients and support people. It is going to give an over view of the process from the time you are listed until you leave hospital after transplant. Looking forward to that and will let you know how it goes. Until then take care...
