Grab some warm cider, coffe, or a water and let's get to the couch. It seems that Miss Robin is not only a very good looking woman, she is also a great actress and manipulator. It seems she manipulated her half brother, Charley. Maybe she did get him to do the vandalism, knowing he would do just about anything to be accepted. Why would she need Charley to let her have a house overnite with her "rich" boyfriend? So, maybe the suspicion that some of you had about Robin's affair with Alex, may be on target. I really can't see Ted Cartwright not showing off a real good looking woman as a girl friend. Dru, hmm she does seem like an ally to Ceila, but she also seems to have reservations about her. She hopes Ceila has an alibi, but she also thinks that maybe she has become unstable and came back to kill Cartwright. Hmmm, it sort of fits. Dru has also thought about the coincidences and odds of Alex getting a house that Ceila grew up in. I have a very strong feeling that something might just happen to Zach, . He was extremely bold in the townhouse incident. Any takes on what might happen next with Zach? I just don't know how to feel about Benjamin Fletcher. How do you feel about him? I had to laugh when I read how Ceila gave it to nosy neighbor, Marcella in the restaurant. It is a shame she apologized, . More people seem to be noticing a resemblance between Ceila and her mother. I really don't know how long Ceila thinks that no one will put two and two together anyways. More and more conversation that had taken place on that dreadful night she accidentally shot her mother are coming back to her memory. Earley, . He is still looking for his limelight in the whole mess. It just seems to elude him everytime he begins to grasp it. So far, the book seems to be flowing as I expected. Is it for you. I really love the new added twist and element of Robin and Charley.

I don't trust Alex; never did. It almost seemed "weird" that he was defending Celia to the police. And he sure does make a lot of trips to Chicago or wherever. Why the devil did they ever move? I thought he had something going with Robin (maybe still does) but he might have dealings with Ted as well; the slime bucket. As for Dru..... I figured she'd befriend Celia but now I'm not so sure. She's "after" a story. I still like the prosecutor though. As for Zach; I think his days are numbered. Benjamin Fletcher; the old codger . I've mixed feelings there but I think he's an honest man and will be "steadfast" A good anchor for Celia. Anyway; it's GOTTA come out soon as to who she is!

I agree Zack's going to meet a 'dead' end. I think he's pushed Ted too far this time. Dru has found out who Celia is, now what will she do with that information?? will she be able to talk to Ceila's 'mom/aunt' ? I still don't think much of Alex, just too contrived. Buying the house, the pony, talking to the cops, and I wonder if he has 'someone' in the city, since he's there on such a regular basis. As for Robyn, she is turning out to be quite a coniving B*, she turns up and starts 'using' her brother, has a fling with Ted, perhaps we are being too hard on Ted, maybe Robyn is responsible for more than we think. I like Benjamin, I think he will protect Celia. He is honest, and hard working, and I think he likes Liz/Celia for suviving what she has and I think he knows who Celia is but is waiting for her to tell him.
This book has really hooked me and I can't wait to finish it to find out how Celia makes out.

I never thought about Ben knowing that Celia is Lizy. Hmmm. I like the guy, though. Wish he'd take better care of himself, lose some weight. But that's the woman in me. I wonder why he's working in such a worn out office, with no secretary. Did he not do so well as an attorney in his earlier years, or is he just semi retired and working for something to do. The only reason I bring this up is to question whether he'll be able to represent Celia in what is going to be a pretty tight case against her.
Esp. with Alex being the one pulling all these strings. I still think he is the one setting her up to get her money. He is one clever bad guy. I, too, wondered what is with all these trips to Chicago. Can't say it is to be with Robin, so who's he with? And what was really behind his coming home that one day when he had to turn around and go back the next day. On the other hand, if he isn't the bad guy, it showed he was worried about Celia.
I don't think that Charlie would have said Robin was using the houses to be with her rich boyfriend and not mention Ted as being the guy. And I agree that Ted would be showing her off if they still had a relationship.
So, I think that Alex and Robin met up somewhere else and he planted her there the year before coming to town to set things up. She started dating Ted, maybe to get some info on Celia's past. Maybe Alex met her in NYC (I think that's where his apartment was?) when he bought the apartment. I'm not sure if he knew who Celia was when he first met her. Remember, her 1st husband was alive when he met her.
I also like the idea about Dru and the prosecutor being on Celia's side. They will be somewhat influenced by the circumstantial evidence, but I don't think they will let it stand without further investigation. Both of them seek out the truth.
Zach is the next one to be toast. Greed will be the death of him.
I can't wait to get on to the next reading. Do we have to wait much longer?

I have to say, there does seem to be plenty of men to distrust in this story. Only one I really like, and one not too sure about.
If I remember correct, Benjamin was a public defender at the time he defended Celia, and I don't remember if it states how long he remained one. However, it would answer the question of lack of money, since public defenders don't make much.

I loved all the comments and discussions.
I don't think Celia's aunt would willingly or knowingly give any information up about her. She may be duped by the very smart and ambitious Dru.
Yeah, I also do not think Benjamin is underhanded, but yeah....can't get a handle on him.
So...
Next readings will be chapters 57 through 69 (pp. 352-419). I think we could meet on the 6th of January or a little earlier if you like. Let me know. I just wanted to keep everyone's holiday plans in mind for the readings. So, think about it and let me know.
Thanks so much
Antoinette

Sounds good to me, Jackie. I was wondering what the ones with books checked out from the library were doing..but hadn't gotten any input on it. So, it is good to get the input, that's why I asked, ;D

Aero, I had mine renewed twice and they wouldn't renew again. Seems that's the limit here. Anyway, I took it in and returned it and then as there was no one 'waiting' for it I was able to check it out again. Thankfully as I really want to finish and find out what happens to Celia. I think going for the end would be great. A few quiet nights reading to recover from the festivities would be relaxing.

Thanks for reminding me about renewing the book! I am fortunate in that my library doesn't charge late fees, but you do have to be considerate about other's wanting to read it. Good thing it's not a new book.
Goodie, on to the show! I'm like the rest of you, can't wait to get to the end. And then on to the next book.

I'm trying to read every night, but the next thing I know I am waking up and re-reading the same page over and over. I've even tried to start reading earlier but I think I'm just tired. Better call the library again.

I usually reread the last page that I finished with. It kinda prepares me for the next reading I will be doing. But, ya know, I think I got into the "rereading" habit in college. It kinda helped me study..now it is just memory problems, .

Hopefully the next book will be something that can be easily purchased o even a the used book store - I renewed my library book twice and couldn't the third time - so must admit I read the whole thing before it was returned and am enjoying reading all the comments - am afraid to pop in in case I let the cat out of the bag so to speak.
