Toni Thanks for letting us know. From what you wrote, it sounds like it will be a very tiring time those four days. Exciting!
Let us know when you are done reading and it all sinks in.

I agree with Bobbi Toni...... exciting! But; I'll bet you're also a bit nervous and it'll take awhile as you say to read through e'thing. It sounds as if you've got a FULL week planned for May.
Staying the full 4 days is probably a wise decision; too bad that couldn't have combined the other 2 days together.
You're gonna do just GREAT toni!

Toni, I'm so glad you have your list of 'tests' now and can slowly digest the info., that alone will make things so much easier. Take Care and know that you are in my thoughts and prayers.

Thanks everyone for their support! I quickly went through the list of tests and have made a "To Do List" of questions/concerns I have. For example two of the tests are scheduled at the same time and obviously I can't be in two places at once. I'll go through the list again this weekend to see if I missed anything. It will be a very busy six days! Toni

Toni that does happen...let them know but probably won't be too big a problem......as I recall you have a ways to go to get the testing done? Nat'l Jew knew I did have a drive so tried really hard to get as many test done on one day as possible......if they have to re-schedule something for you hopefully they can put it on another day you have to be there......

Ten days from today I'll be starting my tests at Toronto General Hospital to determine if I'm a candidate for a lung transplant.
Even though we live about 45 minutes from the hospital, we will be staying in Toronto for the first four days.
I thought I'd list my schedule so you'll see how busy I'll be!
Tuesday May 19 8:00am Echo cardiogram 9:00am Blood tests, Chest X-ray, ECG, 10:30am PFT/ABG's 12:15pm CT thorax
Wednesday May 20 8:00am RNA (MUGA) Scan 10:00am meet with Transplant Coordinator 11:00am meet with Anesthesiologist 1:00pm meet with Social Worker
Thursday May 21 12:00pm meet with Dietitian 1:00pm 6 minute walk Anytime PRA level
Friday May 22 8:30am Myocardial Perfusion Imaging (Dobutamine Sestamibi)
Monday May 25 1:30pm V/Q scan
Tuesday May 26 2:30pm Abdominal Ultrasound
The literature that was sent to me also included details of each test: what is involved, how long it will take and how to prepare for it.
I'll be taking my laptop with me to the hotel so I'll be able to update you each day.

You're gonna have one BUSY time of it Toni! Good idea on the Laptop! Are you getting nervous, or maybe excited or BOTH? I'm not sure how I'd feel....maybe just wanting to get on with it? Anyway; once you start the actual testing etc, perhaps you could start a new thread so it doesn't get lost in this one? Oh; one Question ..... what's a "RNA (MUGA) Scan" Guess I could look it up but you probably already have!

Oh; one Question ..... what's a "RNA (MUGA) Scan" Guess I could look it up but you probably already have! Jackie, The RNA (MUGA) scan according to the literature that was given to me: " The MUGA scan tests how well the heart pumps the blood and the percentage of blood being pumped out to the body. It can measure how well the chambers move at rest and with exercise."Right now I'm starting to get a bit nervous. I'm also worried because I become very SOB when I get nervous so the morning of the first day will be challenging. Once I have the first day under my belt, then I think I'll settle down. I'll start a separate thread once the assessment starts. Toni

Thanks Toni for the info..... I can imagine that yes, you would be nervous..... but if it helps We'll be right there with you (picture us in your mind's eye); the waiting room won't have enough chairs! Many of our photos are in the Rogue's Gallery if you need something to help you along visually (mind you some of our mug shots might scare you further ) You're gonna do just fine!

Toni, I'll be thinking of you. It is a lot of testing but they spread it out so that it is pretty easy to get through it all. I know it seems like quite a bit but once you get going, you will do fine. Prayers for an easy go of it and I'll be there in spirit cheering you on!
Honestly, yours and the States schedules are very similar, I did not have to have an abdominal ultrasound tho, other than that its pretty much the same.
