I had my blood work and ECG done last Friday. On Monday I called my coordinator and left a message telling her we would be leaving Tuesday to go out of town until Thursday. When we returned late yesterday, there were four messages on my phone from a doctor's office calling to book my angiogram for Thursday Aug 27 at 11:00am at Toronto Western Hospital! Obviously I couldn't keep that appointment so I called the secretary first thing this morning. I apologized to her about not getting back to her and told her that I had left a message with transplant coordinator about our being away. Now the next available appointment isn't until Sept ! I feel frustrated that it could have been over and done with, I feel guilty that we went away and I feel a little angry that the coordinator didn't call the referring doctor and tell them. Also, had I known it was going to be this quick I wouldn't have gone. Toni

Toni, I bet you need the time away from home to relax. There's nothing you can do now and don't let it ruin the good feeling you go while you were away.
I'm sorry you missed the calls. Perhaps you could get a cell phone? 'Course, if there's no reception, like at my house or in certain areas, that wouldn't help that much. Other than the caller could leave a voice mail on it you could check while you're away. In NY state they have a program for people who don't have and can't afford a cell phone for emergencies.
I wonder why they were able to set up the first angiogram so fast and the next appt is so far away? Maybe you could be put on a cancellation list? Worth a try. People cancel all the time for things like this.
Good luck. I hope the rest of this goes smoothly for you. Sue

Thanks Sue. I do have a cell phone and the coordinator has the number. I just felt so bad for this poor woman who kept calling and calling! Like you say...what's done is done... Toni

I had that happen too and nothing we can do about it....just take a a deep ( ) breath and try to be patient.....think that's part of the testing process to see how we handle this stuff

I'm sorry to hear that Toni; and yes I can understand you'd be feeling badly that you missed it. But I agree with Bobbi; you also needed a break and it's only another 2 1/2 weeks.

Thanks everyone! I feel much better today and I realize that I really have to stop feeling sorry for myself...there are people out there who are a lot worse off than me...

I am positive I would have had the same reaction as you did. You have every right to your emotions! Sure, there are other people out there worse than any of us, but needing a transplant puts you in one of those catagories, too.

Toni, I'm sorry you missed that call, but you needed some time away and things usually work out for a reason, we just don't always see it at the time. Just try to relax and the 16th will be here sooner than you think.
