My wife & I bought a HP G60-531CA laptop the other day. This model is a middle range multi-media laptop that has built-in Web Cam and built-in microphone (that has a known manufactory bug). Thus, why we are now using an external connected micophone. During the last few hours, my son & I have been creating "short length" video clips via HP's free Web Cam movie maker application. While creating a short movie clip, we can also do graphic overlays and add free form graphics as well. Remember the old batman movies and when he gets hit, they would do a ballon overlay of "BAG or WOW"? We can do the same special effects on our laptop system as well. What a super cool feature.
Going forward in time... Instead of sending tradtional text based emails to our family members (who also have HS internet access & Video viewing ability as well), we'll now be sending them our family short "movie clips". Nice little "happy birthday" video clips, or Merry Christmas video clips and individual family member video clips to other family members - who live 7 hour drive away. Or, simply post the short video on Youtube / Facebook as well. And if they want, we can even establish interactive Web Cam / Web cam communication across the HS internet sharing at each end as well. Thus, have both direct voice and video conversations with one another - instead of boring text email. Or, video attachment inside an email.
If you are into sending lots of text based emails to/from other family members, do investigate the "new technology" computers containing Web Cams, microphones and movie making abilities as well. Why not send an attached video clip to the email person as well? This advanced technology is now available in today's new "affordable" laptops. Pretty cool staff - that my family is very impressed with. Especially my daughter (who can now film herself singing) - which is a main reason we bought a "new technology" multi-media laptop system...
Hope this suggestion of "do try making short video clips instead of text based" emails" helps others as well...

Update:
Just to advise I returned the previous bought HP G60 series laptop the other day. If wondering, its internal mic didn't work properly (known HP technical problem) and my family really didn't like its small 15.5" screen. We replaced this smaller "broken" laptop with slightly more expensive "HP Pavilion 17.3" DV7-3128CA" laptop. Its physically larger (with larger size screen), has hardware volume and other controls, has better video card (with its own onboard memory) and it has better screen resolution. Same disk space and memory space as previous HP G60 series laptop. So far, this new HP 17.3" laptop is working great. And, we like it much better then our previous HP laptop...
Lesson learned: If you really want a computer with larger size screen, onboard video card memory and better controls, do save a little longer and "buy your desired machine". Our new laptop and its much better larger design / better features is much better then our previous HP G60 series laptop. Lesson learned the hard way....
Hope this helps others - who are searching for a laptop for themselves...
