"] [/img]Hi everybody, I'm Judy and I am sooo happy that Phil started this new forum. I've been looking around for at least a month and nothing really grabbed me. The good thing is, I'm sure alot of the "oldies" from other boards will stop by and it will be good to share their stories as well as the new people that I will be meeting here! I was diagnosed in November 2006 after a 4 day hospital stay.. I wasn't sick... I just had severe sob and fell asleep gettin ready for work while I was drying my hair! Thank God Hubby was there! When we arrived, My 02 was 78 and I had the nerve to ask the triage nurse if I could go out and have 2 drags before they took me in!! -Pathedic- When I was released.. I was on O2 24/7. Smokin up a storm btw. December 28, 11pm my daughter came home from a night out and found me face down, skin gray, lips and fingers blue.. She saved my life. This time I WAS SICK. When I got to the ER by ambulance (which I have no recollection of, my O2 was 68. I had double pneumonia and a collapsed lung. They tried the bi-pap for 5 hours but I fought them tooth and nail. <still no recollection> I woke up 3 days later on a respirator.. which I proceeded to remove myself (ya do some crazy things when your "out there"..) Gee Phil.... wish I had known about the balloons then! Meanwhile, I'm here to tell my story but for the Grace of God.. My daughter who is 15 is my Guardian Angel and my hubby is my inspiration.... I've learned many things hanging around these forums.. I've grown quite a bit from the scared to death newly diagnosed copd'er that I was.. all in only 4 short months.. I have a "wealth" of info. printed and in a folder... I refer to it often. Many thanx to Phil for his expert advice, links and patients with a complete basketcase like Me. Good Luck to you Phil and the best to all of you.. I hope some of us can become good friends along the way! Hugs...Jude ps..My FEV1 is 41%- I use o2 for sleep only, advair, spiriva and neb for rescue.

Hi Jude,
What a great testimonial as to what can be done if we put our minds to it. It surely helps to have a loving family to guide us along though. As you know now, it's not easy, but the benefits are so wonderful. Welcome!
Phil
