Hi everyone,
SO sorry I haven't posted since my initial plea for prayers but a lot transpired since I last posted. They discovered Doug had a massive stroke with bleeding at the base of the brain when they tried to reduce his sedatives. We lingered with that for almost a week. I won't go into the gory details we got on the stroke but know they were devastating. Even though we saw more rally from him that was expected from it, I lost him Thurs. night at 11:00. His lungs and weakened condition just weren't enough to fight anymore. His funeral will be next Tues. in St. Ann's, ON at our church.
I lost my best friend, my lover and companion. I waited for him for a long, long time and only had 10 short years with him but they were the best 10 years of my life! I'm totally numb right now but wanted to share with at least one COPD community that this dreaded disease continues to take members but gives us courage to keep on fighting for the right thing.
Mary

Mary, I am so sorry for your loss. How wonderful that you did have those years together. My husband and I share the same future as we were only married last year and know that our time will be short. Bless you Mary for taking such good care of Doug and sharing the love you had. Take care and gentle dreams of beautiful memories.

Hi everyone,
Thanks for the caring thoughts and prayers.....I just ask they continue. I don't know that I've ever hurt so badly or deeply in my life. Doug was the love of my life that I waited on for 42 years.....and we were only given 10 together. But, I can say that I have a bushel full of happy memories from those 10 years and probably more than a lot of people get in a lifetime.
So glad to hear that Jackie will be home for Christmas....that's wonderful news! Not sure what I'm going to do this year...especially being so far from my family. I may head to Michigan to visit with relatives there for a change. But, if I don't get back for a bit, Merry Christmas, Happy Hanakuh (sp?) and anything else that's celebrated. And again, thanks for all your caring thoughts and concern.
Mary
