Welcome Al! Please feel free to jump in anywhere anytime on any topic. Some folks check in daily at the Fence- it's open to anyone, anytime... (come pop in and have a coffee with us), or If there's a general interest item or COPD related issue you want to comment on, share or ask questions, by all means ask away. Or start a thread on a topic of interest or concern to you. Whatever YOU are comfortable with. Don't worry about posting in the wrong area or anything; that's why we have great moderators who can move things or copy etc. There's a fair bit of information here and folks are pretty friendly and quite diversified when it comes to COPD; if they don't know something they'll point you in the right direction at the very least.I guarantee you'll be made to feel at home right away! If you've not yet joined our parent organization/ COPD Canada Patient Network, www.copdcanada.ca/sign_up.htm Please consider it. It's open to e'one internationally and it's Free. Membership has it's benefits! My name's Jackie, aka Blossom. I look forward to getting to know you!

Hi everyone ! I just found this section and thanks for the very warm welcome. My current interests are new drugs that can help improve breathing and halt the progress of this dark disease . I am also convinced that Stem Cell treatment will be the cure or at least improve copd enough to live a somewhat normal life. I've contacted some of the trials going on and have not been able to get on one. I'm very reluctant to go out of country for this because it is not yet proven and who are all these doctors all of a sudden experts in stem cell therapy. The cost quoted is about $15,000. to $20,000. (No guarantees). I,m searching every day and will post any findings. . Al

Al; many of us believe that stem cells are our future, including for the treatment of COPD. Osiris is in Phase ll of Prochymal Here's their contact page if you're interested. I don't know if they're still recruiting but I snatched this off their page as well.... "If you or someone you know has COPD and would like more information, please contact us at COPD@Osiris.com. Prochymal for COPD - Frequently Asked Questions What is Prochymal? What does Prochymal do? Is Prochymal safe? Can the cells go to other areas of the body? What is the treatment in this trial? How long is the trial? How do I participate? " www.medicalnewstoday.com:80/articles/135942.php (copy and paste the link into your browser) I'll also put this in the stem cell area in case you miss it here.....
