Welcome Melody!!! Please feel free to jump in anywhere anytime on any topic. You'll find the water warm. Some folks check in daily at the Fence- it's open all the time... (come pop in and have a coffee with us), or If there's a general interest item or COPD related issue you want to comment on, share or ask questions, by all means ask away. Remember; there's no "dumb questions" I mention because sometimes people are nervous about asking (they think e'one assumes they're suppose to know and that's not how it works) Learning is a process. Or start a thread on a topic of interest or concern to you. Whatever YOU are comfortable with. Don't worry about posting in the wrong area or anything; that's why we have great Admins who can move things or copy etc There's a fair bit of information here and folks are pretty friendly and quite diversified when it comes to COPD; if they don't know something they'll point you in the right direction at the very least.I guarantee you'll be made to feel at home right away! If you've not yet joined our parent organization/ COPD Canada Patient Network, www.copdcanada.ca/sign_up.htm Please consider it. It's open to e'one internationally and it's Free. Membership has it's benefits! There's a lot we can learn and share together ... I hope in time you'll think of us here as a 2nd family. So; make yourself at home and get comfy! My name's Jackie, aka Blossom. I look forward to getting to know you!

Thank-you for the warm welcome. I joined a couple of days ago and just really had the time now to check it out. As you know I am Melody. I got diagnosised with COPD in November of last year. So far I'm doing ok other then the quitting smoking. I just can't get over that last hurdle of quitting. I will keep on trying though. Again thanks for the warm welcome. If you have any questions please just ask. I"m going to go check things out. Hugs Melody

Pleased to meet you, Melody. We'll stand behind you when you need some strong support! That's what we do here, along with sharing info and questions/answers. Feel free and, I hope, feel comfortable with us. We're just every day people.
Have you been experiencing symptoms for a while? You are a tad on the younger side and wondered if you'd been tested for the Alpha 1. Sue

Wow thanks for saying I'm on the younger side. I just had a birthday and believe me my kids say I'm old . As for being tested for Alpha 1 no I have not. I have been smoking for well over 30 years and had asthma when I was a child so I'm not sure if that has anything to do with it.
