I was thinking last night....
I'm curious; particularly in light of Antoinette's recent flare up and being on the list....
What happens if/when you're having a flare up (as in the throes of) and you get the call?
Do they go ahead with a possible transplant or... you get bumped?

Unfortunately, you get bumped. The risk is too high as your immune system is fighting one thing and then suddenly you drop a set of alien lungs in and it all goes "boom" , your immune system really starts to fly. In addition, they need you in top strength and when you're fighting a bug, your system is not up to par. I have seen it happen here in Toronto where friends have been bumped due to illness and it's a real rough go emotionally.

Thanks Shelley. I understand why they'd do that.... I assume that a person would still maintain their place on the list however?
And; how long after an exacerbation? I mean; do they go into a "holding" pattern? In which case; what's the difining set of circumstances/tests wherein they go back to the "active" list? Or; is there one?

Well when I got the trial call they asked if I was sick. I said I had finished an anti the week before. He asked if I was on Pred and I said no. So, they told me to come in. They also went over all of it when I arrived at the hospital. If you are admitted to a hospital you should call the dr. so they know. And, yes, you resume the place you were at when you are put back on the list.
Probably I couldn't accept if I got the call now. How far out of illness do they accept you as the candidate I don't know.
