Announcement # 1
After a week of rigorous training and "judgement challenges," I'm pleased to announce that Sandy07 has passed the grade with flying colors and is now a full fledged Moderator for the COPD Portal.
Congratulations Sandy and Thank You for taking this on!
*********************************************** Announcement #2
Having given the Caregivers Portal adequate time to "grab hold," sadly this area is not being used enough to warrant keeping it open. This is the 2nd time we've attempted to have a place for Caregivers to interact with their peers but it simply hasn't worked.
Unless there is a good argument presented as to why it should remain open, it will be closed and moved to the Archives at the end of the week.

Good job and congratulations, Sandy. I knew you'd be great at this.
It's too bad about the Caregivers Portal, but I guess it's just not the right time for it. Or maybe it's the place, who knows. A big thank you for trying though.

Hi everyone, I understand the decision to close the Caregivers' portal - there really was very little activity. The original site served a need of mine when John was very ill and I was burning out as a caregiver. My experience there made me appreciate the support such a group can offer. I do think that the need for support by a caregiver is a little more transient than for someone living on a daily basis with COPD. Many caregivers have neither the time or the energy to seek out a support system - I was fortunate in finding this site because my husband was a member - and only do so when there is an acute issue to be dealt with. Maybe in the future there will be a time to try again - for now the 'fence' people are very good at offering support to the caregivers that are recognized. I was an occasional poster on the latest site and thank everyone who answered me - you're all good people!! Barb

barbara....thanks for doing all you could for the caregivers' site. We'll all do what we can to help those caregivers that are seeking some help.
