. In Ontario Canada, the average price for a pack of "good quality" pack of cigarettes is $9.25 (including 14% tax). If you add the gas of driving to the store 50% of the time (instead of normal drive-by purchases), wear / tear on your vehicle, extra cost for life insurance (because you are a smoker), extra cost in extra medical insurance (because you are a smokder), etc. etc. I bet the average direct and indirect price for a pack of smokes is $12.00 (per pack). If one smokes 1 pack per day, that's $360/month. If you have a few extra smokes with friends, at a camp fire or drinking at an outside bar, let's say $400/month. YES. It really costs that much per month to smoke in Ontario, Canada. For our monthly saved dollars (by me "butting out" last Dec 2nd), we bought: Used: www.familycar.com/RoadTests/BuickRendezvous/ USed: images.traderonline.com/img/3/dealer/2721410/79596080_1.jpgDeck at our seasonal camp site (pictures in 2 more weeks). And.... We're also adding some money (per month) into our kid's RESP Account. Thus, lesson their amount of student loans - when they attend college / university in the future. Just wondering.... What do you now buy with your "saved" $350-$400/month (assuming you quit smoking as well)? Just wondering... .
