For the folks that use NAC. I take 2 - 500mg. One in the morning and one at night and sometimes add a 3rd. Would it work better if I took them both at the same time? I don't feel that they're working. What do YOU do?

Sandy; I take the tablets which are 900 mg. The least I take is the 900, many times it's 12 or 1300. And I take it at one shot in about 6 oz of water
On mine, again different from yours, if I'm taking multiple doses, the following is what it says... "they should be consumed at regular intervals throught the day and evening. and should not be consumed with milk or milk products"
what's very interesting, again on my label....
"The physical properties of N-acetylecysteine solutions has been studied with other drugs administered in a similar fashion. Inactivation of some antibiotics has been observed in vitro when NAC is mixed directly with the antibiotic in the same solution. Therefore as a precaution, NAC and orally administered antibiotics including semi-synthetic penicillins, trtracyclines, cephalosporins and aminoglucosides, should be administered at least 2 hours apart. For the anibiotics amoicillin, doxycline, erythromycin, thiamphenicole and cfuroxime no incompatabilities have been reported."
NAC is a known and proven aid for mucus and apparently in a dose of 600. The studies for helping to ward off exacerbations has been done on 1200 mg I beleive, certanly showed considedrable promise but are also still new in the anount of studies done and the size of same. I do believe there's a couple going on, or about to now, on a larger scale via the NIH I think it is.

Blossom....I believe you use the liquid? I read Mark's response to someone and he said he was taking 1200 but didn't say if it was all at the same time or not.
Sometimes I think it is working and sometimes not. Just like everything else about this disease is the unpredictable outcome of meds on each of us. I'll keep plugging along with the way I'm doing it but maybe add one more. Thanks for your responses folks.

I take berry flavored effervescent tablets (like alka seltzer) - like I mentioned, once a day. I can't say that it "does" work (I guess I'm expecting something very obvious ) but I'm pretty sure I've noticed the difference when I'm NOT taking it or I miss a couple of days.

Take a 600 mg tab in the am and one at night and it does seem to help a bit so far. Unfortunately it's only been 3 months.

The thing we have to remember, is that each of us has our own unique chemical profile and what works for one may not work for another.
