I just got this announcement from Sue NY's family . Hi Jackie and John. My mom (Sue) wanted me to tell you she was going to be admitted for respite care tomorrow while my dad heals from a back injury. She'll be in there for 5 days but she was hoping you could post something on the forum. Thanks!

Try and enjoy your enforced vacation Sue ! Sometimes a change of scenery can be a good thing. But seriously my thoughts are with you and Mert for speedy recovery, as home is really where we are most comfortable. Take care <3

Prayers for Sue and Mert. Is anyone staying with him while Sue is in the hospital? It doesn't sound like he should be alone. Hugs to both, Judy Z in pensacola

Thanks for getting this up John.... and Corine; thank you for letting us know! Under the circumstances I think that it's a wise choice for both Mert and you Sue. You both need to regroup and Mert needs healing time. Gotta keep our caregivers healthy as well! New faces and people for you dear; hey; you can teach them how to play mahjong or something! Go easy on them though! Sending you both love, prayers, big th_icon_hug And Sarah to hang out for awhile!

Glad to hear you are getting the care that you require and that Mert can concentrate on his health without worrying about you. We will miss you but being the group that we are, we do not mind "lending" your cheery disposition to other people but only for a short time.
Take care.

Corrine, thank you for letting us know what is happening with your mom and dad.
Sue, I am so thankful that a great solution was found for you and Mert. I knew your great team would come up with an answer. Mert can take the time to let his back heal, and not have to worry about what he isn't doing to help you. And you hun, get to see new people, and check out a new environment too. Now, just settle in and be your friendly, self and enjoy the change.
Keeping both of you in my prayers for a great rest and recovery and homecoming. Take Care.

I spoke with Sue this morning.... she tells me she'd spoken with Mert earlier this morning and he was sounding much better. He finally went to the ER when he realized she was going to be in the hospital. Poor guy... he's got 3 bulging discs and sciatica trouble. He's been reluctant to go becasue he's seen what steroids can do. They gave him a cortizone shot; he gets another next week. He's been in a lot of pain and of little help to Sue which isn't good for either of them.
As for the little lady; she's doing much better today. Her potassium was down a fair bit (remember she takes that heavy duty diuretic when she has to)and I guess it was too much with her reagular diuretic. So; they've done the old IV to bring it up..
Anyway.... she hopes to be home next week so let's just hope that Mert continues on HIS road to recovery as well then it'll be a win, win all around!

Keeping both of you in my thoughts and prayers. I'm so glad that Mert went to the ER, and is now getting proper treatment for his back. Now that he knows what the problem is, it can be treated. Sue, good job they tested your potassium and are getting it back up to the level it should be at. Enjoy your respite and chat up the different people you are meeting. Take Care Hun.

. Hi Susanny (hope you are reading this).
I finished the completion of another good book last night.
Many thanks for getting me "hooked" on reading.
Hope you and Mert recover soon.
Need you to teach me other great areas in life.
Until then, remember that famous racing turtle.
re: "Gentle and steady my friend. Gentle and steady".
Take care…

Mon Feb 24th...
I spoke with Sue at dinnertime. She sounded really good! Mert's doing a lot better though he's still sore.
Anyway; she's supposedly getting realeased home on Wednesday. I'm not sure how soon she'll get back on the computer since it's in the back room but they've made a few adjustments to help her a bit more at home so.... here's hoping all goes well.
And; I'll let her catch you up when she can.
I think we're all looking forward to her homecoming in many ways...
Here's a hug4U
Sue for your arrival!

I'm home!!!! Thanks for all the well wishes. I was well cared for ......most of the time. I was very pleased up until last night when they left me on the commode for over 2 hrs before someone finally came to check my room at midnight and found me. Apparently when they stretched the call bell to reach me they pulled it out of the wall and it never rang. I was in tears and got absolutely NO sympathy from the witch that found me. I'm not sure what I am going to do about it but I can't just let it go, essentially for the next person who goes in to that room and might encounter the same experience. They might not be able to handle it as it was awful. My feet didn't touch the floor unless I sat on the very edge of the seat and I became very SOB.
I almost regret sending the fruit basket I sent but truthfully that was the only bad experience. Neglect.
