Temple University Hospital Investigating Whether Ibuprofen Can Reverse the Effects of Emphysema Temple University Hospital is participating in a multi-site, nationwide phase II clinical trial that is testing whether ibuprofen can reverse the effects of emphysema. Temple is one of only three medical centers in the country, and the only one in the Philadelphia region, chosen to take part in the three-year, $4.4 million study funded by the National Institutes of Health’s National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute. pulmonary.templehealth.org/content/news.htm?inCtx4news_id=55&inCtx4view=24

Well, this is interesting. Can I start taking ibuprofen 600 mg three times daily? I guess it can't hurt. I would like to be ahead of the game.

I think I would wait until the test is done....but personally I take NSAIDs probably once a day, usually 325 mg aspirin...and I really do feel a difference and for years before I was diagnosed with emphysema...when I was feeling a little SOB...I actually would take a couple aspirin...and did feel better, but never made the connection (if there is one)...so there may be a connection.

It will be interesting to see what the findings are when they are done. Hope everyone's liver can stand it.

Thanks for sharing Bonnielu, I can remember reading something about this before. You also got my mind to thinking, when I do too much and the arthritis in mt right hand plays me up, I take Mobilis (an anti-infmatory), so maybe that's why at times, the more I do, the better I breathe.

I use it when needed and it does work for my joint pains.
Jim,
I feel better when I'm active no matter what I take; I guess that's why they say exercise is important.
