Hi Gary, It's nice to meet you. How is your wife doing? Would she like to join also? Caregiving is a tough job & I commend you on wanting to learn all you can about this disease. I was a caregiver a few times in life & learning what you are or may have to deal with will help so much. my prayers are with you. This site is new to me, but there is a wealth of information that has been put in each forum! It is great that they archived a lot of info also. I have spent a lot of time just reading & learning here ps. This is a great place to gain understanding of the disease, but I agree with Ozboy that you should also try to find a support group for caregivers---you may need your own support at times as caregiving is rewarding but a tough job emotionally & physically.

Hi Jarca, It's my pleasure. My wife.............. She was in the hospital about a month ago for CHF and spent five days in there. When She was out for a week and a few hours after feeling good and doing her normal things, she fell and broke her left arm where the the arm attaches to the shoulder. Because of her health, we opted out of the surgery and the xrays showed calcium gel forming and that was great news. A week ago tonight, she was admitted for community acquired pneumonia and was released to a rehab center. The rehab is intense and requires 1.5 hours of physical and 1.5 hours of occupational therapy for five days each week that she's here. I spoke with the Doctor here today and he said that upon discharge from here, she can begin her cardio pulmonary rehab and I really wanted that before winter. Today the OT realy worked her arm and we were both happy with her movement. She can't do any outward extension till she sees the orthopod in 6 more days. It's amazing how that arm increased my workload by at least 300%.

Hi Gail, I agree, but being ill is a hard thing too. I guess we all have to meet each other somewhere around the half way point.

Hi Gary, I am so happy to meet you. Just sorry it's this way. But we All met this way who am I kidding. Anyway, Wow you're wife sure has been through a lot. And i'm sure it's hard on you bc you want to be sure you're doing the right thing, and not hurting her, and doing enough, and all those questions right? Well if so she will let you know! I'm sure you're doing great. We also have a recipe area here so you can make a nice dinner or desert for her. Or if you can't cook I have a few easy recipes I can give you perhaps?
No matter what we are all here for you. Ask all you're questions and we will try our best to answer. If one doesn't know, thanks I'm sure someone else will. Hope to see more of you, and know you're always welcome here. Gail.

Hi Suz,
In the short time that I've been here, I've learned SOO much! This is a disease that will test folks on both sides each and every day. If you ever find the time, look up Jimmy Valvano, also known as Jimmy V. He speaks of never giving up too, and will always be a true inspiration to me. Check him out... I believe you'll see just what I mean.
