Hola, I tried to register as AnnaLunes but had technical difficulties, so tried again.
Just diagnosed with COPD. My way of dealing with problems is to seek information. This looks like a good forum, hope to meet lots of posters.

Welcome to the group.
I was diagnosed about "sixteen" years ago and have been on that same journey to finding information every day since then.
There is lots of information here and lots of people willing to share their experiences.

Welcome to the group. I was diagnosed about "sixteen" years ago and have been on that same journey to finding information every day since then. There is lots of information here and lots of people willing to share their experiences. Hola Gerald, what a nice post, thanks. I am really grateful. I have a wonderful life. I just need to get a handle on gathering information, just feel a little inundated. I am lucky. I think I am in the early stages. I also think because I focus on healthy actions and diet, I hope to slow, curtail or even reverse some of my lung issues.

Anna, I was diagnosed in 1983 with the beginning of emphysema. I didn't feel it until 20 years later so if you are in the early stages you still have a lot of life left. I went on disability in 2003 because I started feeling short of breath at work. I was painting and climbing ladders.
I am on the right medication that works for me!!

AnnaMartes and welcome!!!! I was diagnosed with emphysema (copd) in 2010 & Pulmonary fibrosis (PF) in 2012. I was a member of a different support group that fell apart so I joined this group a bit over a year ago. The people are great here and I like how this board is set up with the different forums to easily find older posts with past information on them. I hope you learn & enjoy this group as much as I have.

AnnaMartes and Welcome to COPD in Canada & The World. I was diagnosed in 2008 as severe COPD but today after taking my meds, finding some good chinese herb pills and some good oils and doing some exercises (mild ones) my COPD is milder and I still can work. I'm only 56 and I do want to live a long life. My only enemy right now is my stress level and how I handle things but every day it gets better. Hope to see you at over the fence where we try to meet daily and say how we are doing. There are also great links like others have mentioned where you will find great advice and good experiences to look at. Always remember to seek your doctor's advice before trying anything new. So, welcome and talk to you soon. Hugs from all of us here.

I would love to hear more about all your techniques. Maybe you posted your experiences already, I will look. My health journey has been a bit unusual. I think an abscess that was not properly treated lead to some infection issues. Also, I fell once and discovered I had severe osteoporosis, couldn´t get out of bed for weeks, couldn´t walk well for many months which did not help the lungs. But, with yoga, medical treatment for infections, visits with lung doctors, physical therapy, some natural medicines, finding an dentist to fix some dental problems and I am feeling 99% better.

This is why I am definitely an advocate for an informed patient. It really helps if you study your situation, learn the terms etc. I feel my reading and research has helped me in several situations.

Hi AnnaMartes, you can call me Gail if you like. I have many other issues as well. for one; I'm on homebound and nurses come a couple of times a week for me. I was just out of the hospital about a month ago with pneumonia. I also have psoriatic arthritis, psoriasis, and lupus, and fibromyalgia, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, small cell neuropathy in my feet, my shoulders have torn cuffs, and I'm a mess. Not to mention I'm on oxygen every night, and as needed during the day. The pulmonary doctor said I am a complex case and that didn't make me feel any better. But I take the cards I was dealt and just try to deal the best I can, with my nurse my PT therapy and working closely with my Doctors. I'm in constant pain and I also have lower sacrum degeneration in which not only my shoulders hurt but my lower back has no cushion between the bones, so the pain is horrendous at times. I think I have learned to cope with most of it but I'll tell you what at my age of 55 I feel like I'm a hundred fifty five at times. I also have been working with oils and crystals and salt lamps. I also work with healing crystals singing bowls and do a lot of praying. The singing bowl that I just bought really helps me to meditate and it keeps me in tune with myself I also play the harmonica to help with my breathing. Once upon a time I was good . I hope that any one of us can help direct you to the right areas of this forum. And any questions all of us are here for you, just ask away and hopefully we can all help? God bless you, and ! breathe easy as we all say. Love, Gail XXOO

From what I have read pain management is a a difficult medical issue.I hope that any one of us can help direct you to the right areas of this forum. And any questions all of us are here for you, just ask away and hopefully we can all help? God bless you, and ! breathe easy as we all say. Love, Gail XXOO (see notes inside quote) Hola Gail, thank you for sharing. I have friends with varying medical issues, most quite serious. I, too, have a visiting nurse. But, my reason is preparation for aging in place. I want to understand my options before I lose my mental facilities. While I have other health issues, medicine is keeping them under control but I do have issues with adverse reactions to medications. I agree meditation does help, while I can not meditate, I do do yoga, which I like very much. Let´s keep in touch.
