Years ago my 02 supplier brought a 'trilogy 100" ventilator & said my PCP had ordered it. I sent it back as I didn't see what I would need it for (i don't have sleep apnea or anything like that)
today when nurse came from 02 supplier she asked me if I wanted to be on the "trilogy 100" at night saying it gets CO2 out of our lungs & supposedly it's supposed to 'exercise my lungs' in my sleep. I'm reading about it, but I don't understand why I would need something like that. I just had a 'sleep test' done & my 02 levels are fine at night with 2.5LPM continuous flow. I've had 2 arterial blood tests done in the past & was told i'm "not a retainer".
Does anyone use this trilogy machine just to sleep with & is it something that helps?
(ps. i NEVER want to be on a ventilator & have 'advance directives' that say that)

If you are not a CO2 retainer, have sleep apnea or overlap syndrome, and sleep test results were fine, I don't see why you would need this fancy type of CPAP/BiPap machine. There has been a big push to sell this machine over the last 5 years. Did the nurse contact your doctor about this? My DME did something similar to me - to try the smart dose conserver. I was pissed that this was arranged without my doc's office contacting me first.

Skate; No, this time the nurse was just here to try out the new 'oxymizer cannula'----and she tried to push it herself. i am not pleased with anyone trying to push anything on me when they don't even understand the diseases I'm dealing with. Even wearing the new cannula, I don't have to worry about CO retention, so I want my Sp02 to be as high as i can get it! (I have 2 lung diseases, COPD & IPF (an interstitial lung disease-ILD) - obstructive & restrictive) I asked her if she would please read up & learn a bit more about ILD/IPF before she comes back next week so she can 'understand' what i'm actually dealing with when we go out walking & measuring my 02 with the new cannula.
I tried that 'smart dose' conserver a couple of times; it sounded like a great way to keep my 02 right when outside working----it didn't work well for me at all & i seemed to go thru tanks soooooooo fast (faster than my then settings of 4-5LPM)----great idea, i wonder if it works right for others?
