3. Sprinkle with 1/2 package onion soup mix.

Boy this better be good Rose . If I ruin a roast.. (I've not yet mastered the size of the vegetables for the crock pot.) I don't have any onion soup mix but I'll improvise with some spices. I'll let you know how it turns out

Jackie - I can see you got your pot roast recipe. I should have read here before I posted in Over the back fence. I hope it turns out good. It certainly sounds good.

Re: the pot roast...Larry got me started on slow cookers but I'm still trying to work out some kinks (it's just me)
I put the veggies, including onion as some of you suggested, on the bottom, then poured a half can of low salt beef gravy over them. Put pepper on the roast and also rubbed it with some minced garlic then poured the rest of the gravy over top. It turned out great though I'm still wrestling with the proper size of the veggies. They get too soft on me. Anyway it took about 7 hours in total. No work to it which was great and had pre-made gravy.
OOps; Forgot to say thanks to e'one AND I had to do it this way since I had no onion soup mix etc
