Well we made it through another week, and its a long weekend here in Ontario(we don't get this one in Nova Scotia). It seems that some of the people in our little group of Easterners are having some issues and when one of us does we all feel it. One lovely lady from NL was hospitalized yesterday and will stay there until she gets her transplant. She has an incredible faith that is sustaining her and we are all sending prayers her way. Another lady was told she must lose weight or they will take her off the list (it is only 10 lbs and I know this women will do it!!) Along with the physical issues there are some emotional ones as well, they are sometimes the hardest to get through if you try to go it alone. We as caregivers stick together to try to help each other out such as tonight. My partner and I went upstairs to visit another couple and when the visit was over my partner went home and the other caregiver and myself went to visit another couple in the building. The young lady there is waiting for her 2nd transplant and she is only 30 yrs old. They have been here for 11 months, she is finding the time long right now and she is going through a period of doubt and fear. We had a great visit and she seemed alot more relaxed then earlier in the day. Tomorrow night we are all heading out to supper to celebrate Valentines Day a little early. We always like to give the restaurant a little notice so when they see wheelchairs and oxygen tanks they ready for us. Also tomorrow my partners daughter is flying in for a visit, he is so excited to see her and I think it will really perk him up. This week at Support Meeting one of the respirologist on the transplant team came in to talk to us. He says the that there is an almost equal split of COPD, Pulmonary Fibrosis patients transplanted. So far there are only 2 of us that I have seen in the Support Group, I wonder where the rest are?
