I would like to start getting ideas on some of the books everyone wants to read. Please have patience with me, as I have never been involved in a Book Club before.
Let's start by getting some book titles on here. No political, no religious, as to not offend anyone please.
After we get some titles, we will do a poll.
Please keep in mind everyone's financial situation and the availability of the books. Also, let's not get titles that are so long to read, that everyone loses interest.
All ideas are welcome!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks everybody and let's have some fun!!!!

Are we looking for something serious - or more on the pick up type of reading - Personnally I enjoy historical romance in the vain of Diane Galbaldon & others - There is a Canadian author Donna Morrisey - whoo has out a series - the first being Kit"s Law - set in Newfoundland - as well a great deal of the language is fullled with Newfie dialect that could create a fair amount of discussion.

I am partial to anything from Dan Brown, John Grisham, Robin Cook to Margaret Atwood, Farley Mowat. I like reading both for pure entertainment and to learn something about the world around us. Biographies and anything about nature such as David Susuki or Al Gore right up to Michael Moore. If you are starting a book club please do not presume to tell me what to read. I make my own choices but if you want I can report to other members. I finished Dan Browns latest the "Lost Symbol" and am currently not reading any book.

My favorites are: Dean Koontz (have almost all of his and am willing to reread anytime!), Dan Brown, Robin Cook, Jonathan Kellerman, Yeah!, Patricia Cornwall. Even like the scifi/fantasy book series of Dune, but I think they're long. Really fun reads, though.

Great ideas on books so far.
I am going to get to my library this weekend. I am currently searching the authors mentioned.
I guess my idea would be true crime by authors such as Ann Rule and others.
Keep em coming and I guess maybe we can get a poll going on a couple of books in a couple to a few days.

Aero... I'm pretty diversified in that I can read most things EXCEPT Sci Fi, Romance, and many Detective type books. Personally speaking, I like True Crime and I can see where it could give way for some great discussion etc. Good idea.

I've never read true crime, but definitely do not want to read a romance novel. Not my cup of tea.

Linndie, Aero's just trying to get an idea of what type of book we enjoy in order to suggest some books for us to choose from. We've been telling her what author's and genres we like.

Lost my post, I have a true crime by Ann Rule. It consists of several case files and can be discussed separately. The title is "Mortal Danger and Other True Cases" Synopsis: FROM TRUST TO TERROR... FROM SECURITY TO SURVIVAL The author of The Stranger Beside Me brings her brilliantly informed understanding of the sociopath to this riveting truecrime collection. Only Ann Rule, who unknowingly worked alongside the smart and charming Ted Bundy — America's most notorious serial killer — could lend her razor-sharp insight into these cases of the spouse, lover, family member, or helpful stranger who is totally trusted but whose lethally violent nature, though masterfully disguised, can and will kill. Featured here is the case of a Southern California family man who appeared to be the picture of healthy living with his expertise in naturopathic healing. Luring a beautiful flight attendant into a passionate affair, he swept her away to a secluded home on the Oregon coast where his jealous rages escalated, ultimately leading to a brutal sex attack in which she believed she would die. How this brave victim survived, never knowing her tormentor's whereabouts, and how he resurfaced, forcing a tragic end for all involved, makes this one of Ann Rule's most compelling narratives. Other cases include that of the woman who masterminded her husband's murder to gain his inheritance...the monstrous sadist whose prison release damaged a presidential candidate's campaign and ended in a bitter double tragedy in a quiet neighborhood three thousand miles away...the shocking DNA link between a cold-blooded crime and a cold case...and inside the horrific case of the man who crossed an ocean and several countries to stalk the Eurasian beauty who had fled from him in desperation. The other I have is a mystery by Mary Higgins Clark titled, "No Place Like Home" Synopsis: At the age of ten, Liza Barton shot her mother in their New Jersey home while trying to protect her from her violent stepfather. Despite her stepfather's claim that the shooting was a deliberate act, the Juvenile Court ruled the death an accident. Trying to erase every trace of Liza's past, her adoptive parents changed Liza's name to Celia. At the age of twenty-eight, she married a sixty-year-old widower, and they had a son. Before their marriage, Celia confided the secret of her earlier life. On his deathbed, her husband made her swear never to reveal her past to anyone, so that their son would not carry the burden of this family tragedy. Happily remarried, Celia is shocked when her second husband presents her with a gift-the New Jersey house where she killed her mother. On the day they move in, the words BEWARE -- LITTLE LIZZIE'S PLACE have been painted on the lawn. Determined to prove that she was the victim of her stepfather's psychotic behavior, Celia sets out to gather... I took the liberty of copy and paste on these from B&N. If you want the reviews you can visit them or Borders. Please let me know your preference by taking the poll, and I will be taking the majority vote in few days......

The true crime book sounds depressing and dark. But if that's what everyone chooses I'll try it.
Dear Bear, what are we going to do with you>!!!
