Hi! My name is Chris Wigley age 65, FEV1 about 30% and on oxygen. I am active on the Efforts weblist www.emphysema.net in the US and am trying to get some action going here in Canada. I live on Vancouver Island (trying to keep things balanced with Phil out there on the other coast ;D) and run, or at least try to, a COPD support group in Duncan. Happily married and with a son in Victoria and a Daughter in Ottawa and a total of three grand-daughters. Last November I attended the Canadian COPD Coalition Conference in Calgary as the one token patient!

Hi I'm Blossom....aka Jackie NS, or vise versa I have severe COPD...not on oxygen yet and I'm a firm believer and promoter of EXERCISE. I live in Nova Scotia; have 2 kids & 4 grandkids all living in Georigia. Also have a GREAT BH (Dave) and a walking partner (dog)...Buddy. On World COPD Day Nov/06 I started Canada's 1st dedicated COPD website www.copdcanada.ca offering HOPE, INFORMATION & SUPPORT to the newly diagnosed. Phil was/is a BIG contributor to some of the info for those of us suffering with COPD.

Hi: I'm Sandy. I'm 54 years old, was diagnosed in Nov of 06 and am not on oxygen. I have no medical insurance and Medicare goes into effect for me in Oct. I have not seen a pulmonary doctor and have just continued with my regular asthma meds that my family doctor had already prescribed to me. I am from the US but want to know what's going on with COPD internationally and how the different treatments and protocol work in different countries. Belonging to a couple of other forums I have already learned a lot from my neighbors, Canada and the UK.

I am Larry, live in Auckland New Zealand, 69, FEV1 of 34%, so am fairly active, no marathons but walk the dog shop etc with little trouble, OK I do have the odd bad day when I huff and puff. Live with my wife who I married in '65, look after 3 grandkids after school and more often at times. The rest of my kids are smarter and live further away. ;D New Zealand and Canada have a lot in common, similar health systems and medications, cultural ties and history, we have the advantage with better weather . So pleased that Phil has started this site.

Linnie, You have really had a bad time of it the last few years but thank God you are still here fighting with all you have. What a winner you are and an inspiration to the rest of us. YOU didn't just lay down and give up.
I will think about you the next time I just feel like giving up and hopefully it will give me the strengh to get over the self pity state that I sometimes find myself in. I need to dwell on what I can do and do it the best I can, instead of dwelling on what I can't do.
Hugs and good breathing Betty

THANK YOU BETTY,
Sometimes I really do feel like giving up. My husband wants to go to flea markets ect, I just can't walk any more i get severe SOB. I always think about other people who have it worse, i know of a lady who has breast cancer and it is now in her bones, she is suffering horribly.
God's will be done. Love Linndie
