Now this might sound like a dumb, stupid question. But, it is one that is driving me crazy because I can't find any info on it at all .
I have not smoked in over a year. Yet when I belch I taste cigarettes old stale ones at that. I have brushed, rinsed, water pik, brushed my tongue till I gag. And I will be darn the very next time its back.
What is causing it? How do I get rid of it? And help would be appreciated.
THIS IS NOT A JOKE IT IS REALLY BOTHERING ME.

Rosemarie, I wish I could help you, but I've never experienced this.

Sorry Rosemarie,
I've been smoke free for 6 months and haven't experienced an "after taste" (sort of speaking) either.
As a suggestion, might want to brush your tong and inner checks a few times during the day. Some say that brushing these areas removes the "after taste" - that sometimes sticks to these areas. If the after taste is coming up from the lungs, I'm not too sure how to stop its taste. But if you feel the taste is getting stuck to your checks or tonq, brushing these areas a few times a day might help. Or as a minimum, help canvas the after taste (even if a little) in your mouth.
Hope this helps...

I suspect (but don't know) gerd, the taste is in fact gas from the stomach, you may have had it for a long time and blamed cigarettes. If I am right it can cause lung damage, that is in an extreme condition but worth mentioning to your doctor at the next visit.

Larry,
I have put that on my list to ask him next month? I do take Nexium now but maybe I need more of it I don't know. What I find the strangest is that is taste like something I haven't had in a year. But what you said about GERD made sense. But you are a well read gentleman and help lots of people. I thank.
Happy Trails
