I was able to have a short conversation with Barry this morning and he sounds very down. Sandy is still not doing well, still having trouble with her breathing. He did tell me that there is a specialist that is going to come to see her today All Barry told me was that Sandy said she figured that this was the end for her. He also said she is very depressed.
I did ask him about the hospital email and he did not know, its a very small one and I think he said the name was wakeland health. Did not have a very good connection. I am sorry I do not have any more information for you.
I asked Barry to tell her we are all thinking of her and to give her one big hug from all of us. Told him she is in our thoughts and prayers.
I have asked him to please stay in touch. Poor man sounds so upset. Maybe John could lite a candle for both of then.

Ann; you've been doing extremely well; as has Barry. This is a hard time for him and any partners or spouses; especially when faced with a crisis. Especially if that person (the COPD'r) was always the the anchor of the family....
and it goes without saying... for her.
I have to admit that when I read your note today; little alarm bells went off because I've been there.... right down to making cutting motions with with my fingers )I'm glad that my hubby persisted, and I'm glad they couldn't find the Directive we'd turned in,
and ........I'm glad I didn't totally give up!
Anyway; like I said; the alarms went off.
I found her.
She's at the William J. Cadzow - Lac La Biche Healthcare Centre. It's not like a regular hospital. It's only for Acute Care and Extended care. Remember; Sandy lives in a smaller Alberta Community. Unfortunately they don't have an e card of e mail delivery method done by volunteers.
Anyway; the ward mgr (I assume that's who she was) tried finding her nurse but couldn't, but she did go in and speak to Sandy briefly. She couldn't remember my name (the ward mgr); she just said a lady from Nova Scotia was asking about her. Sandy said.... "Tell her I'm hanging in there."
To me that was music to my ears!
I left a message with the lady to please convey that her friends here love her and are looking forward to hearing from her personally; just two words; via the computer....
I'm home.
So.... Sandy..... keep on, keeping on! It can get pretty darn dark out there before dawn.... but; the sun IS still gonna shine for you!

Annabob and Jackie: Thank you for being so diligent in following up and in getting the messages to Sandy and her husband.
Sandy, we are so thinking of you and rooting for you. You are so needed on this forum, let alone your family. I am sending healing light, healing wishes, prayers, and everything else through the ether that might possibly be of help.

Jackie thank you for finding where Sandy is. You would make a good detective I had to finally phone Barry at work for any info. Wished I could have contributed more. I even tried Sandy's daughter's and no answer.

Ann; you did great! Believe me when I tell you (from experience over the years); there's a fine line where you can become a pain or... a blessing. It can be a crisis time for the family and e'one responds differently to our "queries" shall we say. Bottom line; you did good woman! (Besides; I really have a curious mind ) Now; let's all think positive and get this lady home to us!

Oh Sandy, I do so know where your head is at. Don't give up, keep breathing and doing what you can to get strong. We all love you and miss you terribly. It's not the same here.
Wish Barry could talk to Mert and maybe they'd be some comfort to each other. It's so hard for the ones who love and care for us.I will continue praying for the two of you and also Mandy and her family.
Love and hugs, Sue
PS, Ann, you are doing the best job you can under the circumstances. Thank you for all you've been doing, it really means a lot to all of us just hanging on waiting for some word.
