Thanks for the welcome. I live in USA and just found this forum. Looks like good support and information here. I try too keep up with emphysema as much as possible. I was diagnosed with the beginning of emphysema in 1983 (32 years old). I worked in the oilfield and every time a well flowed we had to cap it off. We got soaked in crude oil. This happened 3 times in 3 years. Each time it made my nose run and fed my chest and turned into pneumonia. The 3rd time is when emphysema showed up on the X-ray. So I quit the oilfield and never had the problem again. I went to LSU Medical Center to find out what was causing this and could anything be done to stop it but LSU could not do anything because the government protected industry and stopped any testing for the problem. So I moved on to other jobs. I did ok up until 2003 when I started getting short of breath to the point I had to go on disability. This year, 2013, marks 30 years since I was first diagnosed with emphysema. I am now living in Florida and my name is David. That is is a brief history of my experience with emphysema.

I would like to say I am very pleased I found this form. There is not much support down here where I live and this forum has gave me support and information. Thank you Canada A lot of really nice and caring people here. I am getting the hang of the forum and not getting lost as much.
