This article is from the Lung Institute. Not a bogus website. It's something to think about. As always consult with your Doctor.
If you have chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), then chances are you are familiar with the different medical treatments available for combatting the symptoms of COPD. This powerful disease is the third leading cause of death in the United States and it is estimated that 12 million Americans have been diagnosed with COPD. With so many medical treatments available to patients, are there any alternative COPD treatments, and do they work?

Thanks, David. Some of the suggestions are common in combination with drugs, not instead of... Always risky to go off your meds, I believe, unless a doctor has OK'd it. Good suggestions to eat right, exercise, relax, and so on. I'm sure you know about it from your pulmonary rehab work. Right?

Thanks David, thumbsupde1. I agree with Deborah, it always pays to check these things out with your doctor.

Great article for those who don't know about alternative ideas. I agree with all of you that you must check with your doctor first. I use a lot of those ideas along with my regular meds and find it very helpful.

Alternate medicine is a good thing but you have to be careful of scammers. I read several books (I'm an avid reader) about 20 years ago and have incorporated much into our lifestyle, like eating properly and using foods as medicine. So with all my positive treatments for my heart (garlic and niacin) for my osteoporosis (kelp, calcium, magnesium, yogurt, milk etc.) my basically vegetarian diet, I continued to smoke, how stupid was that. Now I don't but too late to heal. So along with my own good lifestyle ideas I take all the advice of my doctors after checking out what they say online first. I've had too many side effects from doctor prescribed drugs over the years to blindly take anything without properly checking first and then being mindful of what is going on with my body, I keep a daily journal.

I do a journal as well. But not daily. Just if something changes.
