Hi all: It was mentioned to me that grapefruit and some meds can have a negative effect on the body...anyone have any experience like that?

Hi Billy I've heard that often too. Fortunately I don't care for grapefruit juice or grapefruit's. I googled it and found a site that seems to list the type of drugs that react with it. I've never personally heard of a reaction actually happening. www.health.harvard.edu/fhg/updates/update0206d.shtml

Thanks Cheryl. Thanks for the site referance. Yo Blossom: I'm not on any BP meds so I guess there is no real danger. Thanx. I see my Dr. this week(Tomorrow) I will double check with him then, Thanks again.

Billy,
It doesn't work with some anti-depressant too. And I know from the one I take that I also cannot eat swiss cheese while on it. Glad you are going to check this out with you doctor.

Actually there are a lot of meds, BP meds calcium channel blockers, statins, benzodiazepams ie; xanax, lorazepam, klonopin, diazepam all the pam meds, meds for depression etc. really need to take a look as it makes some build up in your system and can cause some good amount of distress. I had to give it up and that has always been a #1 in my diet. ;-(( on a better not have a happy day!!!

It's funny this subject came up. I saw my Mom today and she said since the Dr. took her off Lipitor for a bit, she had a grapefruit. It was the first grapefruit she's had in three years and she said she enjoyed it thoroughly. She really has missed them.
