Hi.....im Peter in OZ, and member of another site. Decided to share my journey here. I have COPD/EMPHESEMA.....Stage 4...Severe with Fev.1 of 23%. Not on oxygen as i tend to retain Co2...My sats are always above 95% but suffer from lots of SOB and Chronic pain from hyperinflated lungs rubbing against diaphragm. I use Tramadol 200mg and Xanax 0.5mg daily.
I was mainly on Seretide 500 and Spiriva but in Dec. 13, the Seretide was replaced by Onbrez which i felt worked pretty good. I also had Ventolin as rescue and Alvesco for allegies.
In Feb this year, the Onbrez was replaced by the latest version called Ultibro which has a a Spiriva component. It is a once a day med. Onbrez n Ultibro have the same excellent delivery system and so far im very happy with it.
So no more Spiriva.
Im in month 7 of a 13 month clinical trial run by my Hospital and sponsored by GSK. It involves a new drug Mepolizumab, that was successfully trialed for Asthma in Europe and now for COPD. It is administered by needle and its aim is to stop exacerbations.

Welcome and thanks for sharing. Please do keep us updated as Canada seems to be the last place to try out new drugs for anything and as we all know we have to keep changing our meds as our disease progresses.
