. For years and years, my wife has been doing "mom's weekend outings.....". Every other month, she would drive into the sunset on a Friday night and wouldn't return until Sunday night. For these 3 days, I didn't ask and she didn't tell - since it was her "away time" to decompress and to feel like a normal lady. Unknown to many folks (including me), she's been visiting different Ontario locations and helping others with their own special needs children. Everything from a simple supporting shoulder to lean on, to providing them education on "our government processes"- to better their own lives. Ya. One of those Give Back things in life. At lunch time, my wife told me about a family she previously helped in Ottawa Canada area that needs help to convert their newly purchased mini-van with proper wheel chair "drive up and lock down system". Currently, the parents of their special little girl are physically lifting their child into the van's passenger seat. Then, manually pushing the empty wheel chair into the van's rear cargo area. I can vouch from 1st hand experience that lifting a floppy child while standing on winter ice (to place them into a mini-van seat) is a very bad combo. Thus, why a drive up and no lifting modified van is mandatory in their family.
