well Dont know if its something to worry about but had been sob for 8 months , so went to pulm dr and asked some questions as to why. sent me for cat scan today and she called this afternoon saying found 3 more nodules. I had one for a few years that has not grown. was watched for a year and found to be not cancer. so they are sending for another pet scan to see if these are cancer. I am hoping not but just a bit worried. Has anyone had experience with lung nodules.?

These nodules are pretty common and most of the time, a patient is unaware that he or she has a lung nodule until a chest X-ray or CT scan of the lungs is performed. Usually between 3 - 5 cm round before they are visible.
Usually after they are detected, a second CT is recommended around 2 years later or earlier, to see if there is any growth or change in shape and size that may have the potential to be cancerous and from there any follow up treatment that may be needed.....
The vast majority are benign and some may also disappear...I have about 3 that are 8cm but have not grown since......so Sharon, I would not be too overly concerned about having the second scan..

Thank you for your thoughts, I will try not to worry about it. But since my father had same and was cancer it scares me. Also had three others family members passed away with cancer. But I will try to keep hope.

I also had nodules when i had my first High resolution cat scan (HRCT) in 2012, the pulm had me have another HRCT 6 months later then yearly & they've never grown so i assume that if they don't grow there is nothing to worry about. (i'm not sure what the difference is in CT, HRCT, or PET scan, my pulm always wanted HRCT so that's what i've had) I remember how scared I was when I first heard that i had "nodules" so I can understand your worry & how scary it is. My heart & prayers are truly with you & i'm so glad you found your way here (((HUG))) when do you go to get the Pet scan? the "wait & watch" was a scariest time for me---I may be weird, but i'd rather "know" what is happening & deal with it than that waiting & wondering time.

I had one nodule on my left lung but the Pulmonary doctor said it has calcified so nothing to worry about.
