When I quit smoking I found I had developed a very short temper.
The doctor I had then said that they knew that that smoking modifies Brain chemistry, althought they were not sure how it did this. He indicated that the medical profession has found that a significantly higher percentage of Bipolar people smoked. And they done some studies that it had help "quiet" the brain in some people so would provide them with some relief.
Unfortunately I am not sure much additional study was ever done(?)
