great information! Good information! Gerald, I don't get news letter, so I appreciate when you post these things!!! I used to belong to a board that had a list of "common abbreviations" pertaining to lungs that were commonly used online posted at the top of the board. I was able to print it up & it helped me understand so much when reading posts on a forum that everyone used abbreviations on; for example; Shortness of breath= SOB Pulmonary Specialist Doctor= Pulm Arterial Blood Gas= ARB Primary Care Practitioner= PCP etc. It was about 25 common terms all done in alphabetical order that I printed up & used as I read the posts. I used to always post the long term with abbreviation in parenthesis at start of my post & then use abbreviations after that, but have gotten out of the habit....for some reason I forget not everyone understands that SOB is shortness of breath/hypoxia. I forget that not everyone understands the long term, let alone the abbreviations!! I do want to say I'm sorry if I have confused people. I write long posts & try to shorten my post by using the common abbreviation---bad jarca!!! (BTW; (by the way)----i keep a 2nd window open on my computer so when I read posts & see a term i don't understand, I can copy it & paste it into blank window to learn definition without having to leave page of the post I'm reading. I also stop my doctor when he's talking to me & uses a word i don't understand to explain the word meaning to me; I guess i'm lucky my doctor is a patient man that stops & explains things in my terms. Thank you again for all the information!!! ----I'll have to print it out so I can learn the terms better. Reading things online I often don't understand or remember, so I print out a lot of things so I can 'highlight' & refer back to them. (yes, i use a lot of ink & paper )
