Good Catch, thank for posting that.
There have been a couple of similar research projects in the US and China. One had created a prototype lung by a similar method but were not able to get it to a useful stage (yet). Problem they had encountered was the lung began creating blood clots which would have caused strokes etc. They were continuing to work on the creation and in dealing with the clotting mechanisms
