I wish to thank all those who had encouraged me to go back to the pulmonologist. Well I went to see my pulmonologist yesterday for breath tests and the results are not very good. Seems my FEV1% dropped from 32% to 24% since November. Quite eye opening. On my previous visit, he had told me there was nothing more that he could do. I was not a candidate for lung volume reduction, I was too old for lung transplant and I was at the maximum prescriptions. Hence my little previous rant. So this time he showed some human qualities, discussed that copd will only be cured by stem cells, which i agree. This conversation occurred prior to my breathing tests. After the tests were completed, he began a discussion on lung transplant (apparently age has been moved back), which I thought came out of the blue. He said it is up to me but he would be willing to recommend a referral for a lung transplant. The question I have to the members is there anyone on this forum who has had a transplant in order to get some advice. i have read the sub threads and they are informative, but appear somewhat dated. Suggestions? Thanks to all.

Travis, at 24% you still have a long long way to go.

It is good to see the survival rates improve. Still a long way to go but they are better.
But, the write up say the survival depends on where the transplant is done, so that would be worth checking as well.
Travis, good luck on your search. Please let us know what you find, I am sure others would appreciate the information.
