Nah, not a 'gonner'
The first thing we learn upon diagnosis of COPD is that there is no cure... so this is not really new news. I kept smoking after my diagnosis using that as an (lame) excuse. If it doesn't help why bother giving up the habit? Eventually we saw the wisdom in quitting anyways... so not a gonner ... say a 'quitter' instead! ''Most patients with COPD don’t die from it''
Smoking causes many other health issues that could cause death - is a GOOD thing WE ARE Quitters...
Interesting article, very scientific and wordy and much was over my head, but still a good read. I did my best to re read until I sorta understood.
The article certainly explains how it is that our lungs are vulnerable to bacteria and why many sufferers sometimes need hospital care. We really do need to protect ourselves from Covid and even the flu and colds.
I was on antibiotics last summer for a misdiagnosed kidney infection and while I was on the meds my phlegm cleared right up and I could come up the 12 steps from the basement without huffing and puffing, at all. For 2 weeks I was never short of breath. I was really interested in that part of the article, but I find there is just a couple sentences with a caution against antibiotics as an on-going therapy.
It's good to know scientists are taking a close look COPD... that's how we'll get a cure.
