Etrex 10 - GPS / cool tool...

For years and years, my wife always tells me to "get lost". Smiles. This year, Mrs Santa got me a hand held GPS Etrex 10 unit. One can use this little "track my path" device on walks, in a boat, in a bush, in the city, etc. etc, down to 35 ft accuracy. Its black/white screen (which is low cost) and works really cool. For example, set a Wavepoint (marker), walk a bit, set the next marker, walk for a bit and set the next marker. To reverse the path, simply reverse direction and follow the markers that you previously set. Or, go directly to your 1st marker (like GO Home marker). Really cool tool to mark one's to/from path (especially for folks who get their NSEW directions mixed up - like me).

If no good for you, perhaps others in their family may like this GPS tool.

My wife took me for a walk today and using this tool, I showed her North Symbol, exact direction back to our home and the little dotted line path on its screen. She laughed and said... I don't care which direction is north. Funny how some folks use landmarks and others use compass direction as their return guide. smiles...

Hi Spike, I've had an earlier model for years, we used it when we went Geocaching, always got us to the cache and back to our car.

If wondering....

I don't have a personal cell phone. And when I retire, I'm getting rid of my business cell phone as well. Thus, this tool is a good alternative (for me).... Perhaps others are the same?
