Hi everyone,I have noticed the last few days have been very bad days for me because of the heat and the humidity. My breathing gets worse when outside even in the early morning. I find it hard to be outside at all. And throw a little PMS on top of that and I'm super SOB, On days like this I rest allot and wear my O2 some during the day. I'm in between Plumos right now. I generally start to feel better when the weather and PMS pass.. I was just wondering if the weather or PMS affects anyone else like me. Every time I mention it to a Dr of any kind about the PMS they just roll their eyes at me. I want to smack them. I know it causes me to be very SOB and I'm sure it does other to. And the weather also same thing. bobbioh

Hi Bobbi, Oh yes, I do. Here in SC today is hot and humid and we are to have storms this afternoon, so the humidy is very thick and heavy. I am at work right now, but just going to my car and then walking from the parking lot to the building caused sob in me. So, yes, I can honestly say that humidity has a lot to do with sob and PMS causes all sorts of problems. It's really hard to breathe on days like this even for healthy people...even they say and use the word "suffocating" when referring to the outside air. Where I work, we have AC but being a laboratory with chemicals, we also have open ventilation to the outside, so even in the halls, it's humid. Just try to get through days like this and I would suggest that you not go outside much. It just causes too much sob. It's not worth it. Be good to yourself on days like this and stay inside as much as you can.

Ah, you poor thing. The humidity effects my breathing too so I stay in the air conditioning.
As for PMS, I did away with that when I had a hysterectomy in 1988 and promptly went on an estrogen patch.
Best thing I ever did.

Bobbi; I can't speak about the PMS blues...been awhile thank goodness. BUT; I do know that emotions, pain etc etc can cause breathing problems so I see no reason why PMS wouldn't.

Definitely Bobbi pms with your internal little summers makes you SOB, I was miserable when I was going thru it. Had to go off estrogen because of the blood clot. Humidity really makes me SOB so I too stay in the house in the air conditioning. The heat advisories also say stay inside if you have breathing or heart problems. So be good to yourself on those days, read a book, watch tv or play games on the puter. Just don't overdo it cause it sure is not worth it...

Hi Girls: Idon't know anything about pms except for being on the receiving end of it! I've learned to just agree for 4or 5 days ;D As for the humidity I can tell my wife when ever it's over 80% My chest gets a little heavy & I have to slow down & stay in the air conditioning. The humidity effects me much more than the cold does. I can do 0* even -5 * with the wind blowing pretty well, Of course I'm also dressed properly for it But the humidity is the one thing I have to pay attention too

Bobbi,
I think PMS would play a part in your ups and downs. Gratefully I haven't had that for a while. But, it by its self can cause you to be short of breath. Add to the COPD and the hot humid air breathing would be very hard. PMS cause the retaining of water so therefore your more bloated and SOB. Hang in there girlfriend they have told me to not overload on fluids that it would sometimes only add to the problem . Don't push yourself on days like this and try eating several small meals instead of 3 big ones. So don't feel alone we have all been there or are there with the PMS.
