Thanks for updating us Carol. I always thought there were emergency surgeons of every type on call even when one is absent due to vacations.
Too many calls probably aren't the best when a person is healing, so it is good the phone isn't hooked up. He sure needs his rest.
I am sure he really wants to come home.
I hope that you, Carol, get some rest for yourself.

OMG I felt sorry for you before but that is unbelievable I could of never imagined in a million years. Poor Poor Bear. And Mrs Bear. It looks like its healing well. And Im sure no phone calls are fine looks like the poor guy hurts bad enough without worrying about talking to a hundred well wishers on the phone . Take care and hope to see you back soon. Thanks for the update. Give the lug a big bear hug from me would you. And yourself. God Bless Bobbi

Thanks Carol for visiting us and updating. Bear took such a bad fall.......just terrible........
I must apologize Carol....I didn't realize you wanted me to post those photos last week so I didn't.
If you'd like, and Bear might appreciate it....if you could print off the messages here to him and you. Even if he can't read them yet perhaps you could read them to him?
Thanks again Carol......

Carol; You did a good job with the pictures. I didn't know if I wanted to look but I did. OMG, how very awful. I don't know how he could even survive this. I could tell it was bad but seeing it is even worse. My heart goes out to you both. I will have you and Barry in my prayers for a long time to come. I don't know about things like this but I have to agree with what Linda wrote. So sad to wait because of a doctor being gone. Take care of yourself Carol. Hope you have some support there in the way of friends nearby.

Barry is now resting comfortably at home as of this evening. Actually, he's sound asleep. The usual short drive of under 10 minutes took more than an hour with stops at the medical equipment supplier and the pharmacy plus picking up dinner.
He's got wheels for a while, till he regains his strength. Lots of appt's both in home and doctors offices on the agenda for the next month or so.
To clarify things, Barry's repair work was done by a plastic surgeon! He ran out of staples and lost count after the first 100! It was a nasty wound to repair, to even know where to begin was mind-boggling. What I did notice after Barry arrived on the Floor, was how one doctor was totally 'hands off', leave it to the specialist and the other one, a young Chinese doctor today was totally hands on and did some cauterizing of some small bleeders. Then, on closer inspection, he saw blood pooling from the entry point of a staple, so decided to remove the it..........that should allow the pin hole to clot up now and end the bleeding.
I'm on the watch for seepage, but I think the problem might just settle down. I have intructions if there is a concern of a minor nature.
It might be a day or two before Barry stops by to say Hi and thank you personally but he's BACK with sense of humour intact, I might add.
Take care, Folks........Have a great evening or morning, if your down under!
Hugs,
Carol

So glad to hear that Barry is home. Glad too that his sense of humor is still there. Having only met Barry once, I still could not imagine him with no sense of humor. ;D Barry, this is for when you make it back in here. Best of luck with the healing.

My sweetie wanted me to let you all know he is back in hospital in Oshawa.
We went to see plastic surgeon at his weekly clinic and I ended up coming home alone.........but that's okay! Dr. F is going to try Negative Pressure Wound Therapy. I looked at KCI website to find out all about it.
The 2 x 3 inch eshcar (scab) was removed by Dr. F this afternoon. Bone is visible! So rather than wait another week, Dr. F said if he could get Barry a bed he would admit him, if that was alright with us. Not a problem.......no plans for us, we had to stay in every day waiting for nursing care anyway.
While in the clinic I got a nurse to apply pressure while I removed my IV which was leaking. I was on the last bag anyway, only had 2 more sessions to finish. so I decided after over 7 days of being hooked up, that it wasn't worth having another site found and IV restarted, it was less than 12 hours till therapy would be discontinued. I have oral antibiotics which I am taking now, to maintain coverage. My family doctor said I could remove the iV anytime yesterday anyway.
Now I can type comfortably, and do all the chores that have been neglected for the last week. But I am back to running to the hospital every day so have to make sure I keep an eye on my infected knee which is still a long way from being completely healed.
Have a good night.......thanks for all the hugs, support, kind thoughts from a fantastic group of people. Hugs to all!
Carol
