I just got a call from Ellen's hubby (Harry)..... Ellen fell last night in the parking lot at Shooper's Drug Mart. She broke her hip. Bless her heart; he tells me she insisted he call and let me know and he asked if I'd inform the board here. He also said... She's on morphine for the pain etc. She'll need pins put in (though we all know what the concerns are).They're waiting on an anestheseoligist and will be consulting with her Resp. Dr. though this may not happen until tomorrow. Harry's not sure when the surgery will be done, how long the "in hospital" after surgery stay might be but he's hoping it'll be short so that she can be home for Christmas. Anyway; he promised he'd call me when he knows something more. I guess I don't need to ask you for prayers and/or positive thoughts to be sent her way. She's an important member of our COPD family here and with our COPD Canada Patient Network. For you Ellen.......  And Sarah will stay with you as long as she's needed.......  |

OMG poor Ellen, I'm so very sorry and hope she has the best anesthologist who will help her through the surgery.  She will be in my thoughts, well wishes and prayers. Tell Harry thank you for letting us all know. |

 I am so sorry this has happened. My heart goes out to her and her family. Sending another angel to help keep watch over Ellen. May you heal quickly. Will be sending lots of healing prayers. |

Stargazer...no she isn't. She's at Oshawa General but when Harry called she was still in ER getting treatment. Undoubtedly trying to figure out what Dept/floor she should be in. Perhaps they're tryign to decide if they'll also be doing surgery right away BEFORE admitting her onto a floor. I'm not sure.
I promise I'll let you know when I hear more. Harry promised he'd call ....

Dear Ellen and Harry,
Oh poor Ellen, and this time of year too, I just pray she is not in pain and she will recover quickly.
She gives so much to people on this board, I will keep her and her famly in my prayers and thoughts. We will pull together and I beleive in the power of prayer and postive thoughts.
I just feel so bad that something bad happened to someone so kind and good.

Our prayers are joining others in asking for a speedy and complete recovery. What a bad time to have an accident like this - we just hope that Christmas coming, means more family around for love and support. Chris and Gwen    |

Not that there is ever a good time but this is a bad time to be unwell or injured, at Christmas we all hope to spend time with friends and family.
I hope her recovery is fast, I suppose it would be put in a cast?
Perhaps home for Christmas.

Oh Ellen, I am so so sorry and sadden to read about your injury. I sincerely hope they give you the best care imaginable and that theyare able to keep the pain at bay. My thoughts are with you and your family.

Ellen my heart goes out to you. What a dreadful thing to happen at anytime, nevermind the holiday season. Harry please keep us as up to date as you can; Ellen is such a wonderful and treasured person to all of us and like everyone else, my thoughts and prayers are with you Ellen for a pain limited and speedy recovery. On a side note, can Shopper's be held liable; I often notice that so many merchants do not take care of their property and it's not the first time I've heard of someone slipping and hurting themselves.
